The public is a resource and oftentimes the initial and first reports we get are people putting up information, from tweets, from Flickr and Facebook. Rather than waiting for that to come up, we want to build an App for this purposes so people would be doing that in the app that will allow it to be shared with other responders. The mobile app will have a Crowdsourcing and Disaster Reporter function feature that will allow citizens to report photograph and explain conditions in their local area. The app will allow people to upload photographs and descriptions of disaster areas, which will be geo-tagged with the GPS technology embedded with most smartphones. The photos can be moderated and then posted on a map for the public and emergency managers to view. From this, organizations responsible for emergence response could then get a more complete picture of a disaster as it unfolds and send resources exactly where the needs have been reported. In addition to uploading data through the Disaster Reporter function, the mobile app will also provide useful information to people trying to get help.
