19 Workshop 3 on Infrastructure: Standards and developments Today with the exception of Norway, most countries have less than 1000 charging stations installed. Development of the charging infrastructure will play a major role for the wide adoption of Electric mobility. To ensure this development, few elements are required: Standardardisation, innovation and Business models

31 Future agenda for standardisation End-2011: ETSI & CEN-CENELEC is expected to deliver their recommendations to the European Commission for a European standard. End 2013: DC charging standard expected to be released by the IEC. 2017: ACEA s position paper Mode 3 Type 2 & Fast Charging Type 2/Combo 2
32 Looking at the future? Can we dream of one plug? Mode 3 will be the EV mode for AC? Different ways of «charging»? Inductive charging «A Better Place» (Battery swapping) The ideal infrastructure standard: Any vehicle can safely charge anywhere
33 Recommendations Experimenting: pilot installation to identify the best locations & modes for charging stations in cities. Make sure all relevant stakeholders are involved from the beginning. Don t invest too quickly & too much in fast charging stations Choose flexible solutions (eg. in Nice & Paris)

Cost for the installation & connection vary with location, availability of power, labour, signage, lost of parking revenue...
