3 INVITATION TO THE CONGRESS Dear Participants; Turkish Society of Blood centers and Transfusion; has organized 14 national Courses, 4 national congresses, 106 symposiums and 1 regional ISBT congress for blood center employees in cooperation with The Ministry of Health, various university hospitals and Turkish Blood Foundation since We are excited to have the V. National Congress of Blood Centers and Transfusion Medicine with you between November 18-22, In addition to informing professionals of new developments, congresses are a little different than courses in that they are scientific environments, where professionals can present their work through posters and verbally. This way, we can both acquire information regarding new developments and have an idea regarding the level our country has reached in blood banking. As always, there is going to be a basic training course, concurrently with the congress. Basic Training Course is for those who are blood banking and transfusion medicine professionals but have never received this course before. Profession or positions of the participants are not important. The reason it is called basic training course is because basic topics in the same content are presented by different speakers. The objective is to give the professionals in this field a standard beginning training. Since content is the same, participating this course repeatedly is not recommended. We strongly recommend the colleagues, who have recently joined us to participate in this course. Moreover, "National Blood and Blood Products Guide" is going to be discussed in great detail. We will get to know each other better, learn, teach, discuss. Have fun and make sure blood banking in our country goes one step further. Those, who complete the Congress and Course programs, are going to be awarded certificate of attendance. Both programs are accredited by the Turkish Medical Association. We expect all blood center employees to attend. We look forward to see you in Antalya. 7 NİLGÜN ACAR ABSTRACT AWARDS Turkish Society of Blood Centers and Transfusion Dr. Nilgün Acar encouragement awards will be given to the best six oral and poster abstracts selected by the Abstract Evaluation Committee. Case reports will not be evaluated. Authors who want to be nominated for the award should indicate their request while online abstract submission. If the selected abstract has more than one researcher, researchers will share the award between them. Selected best six oral and poster abstracts will be announced and awarded at the Gala Dinner. First Prize Second Prize Third Prize Oral Presentations TL TL TL Poster Presentations TL TL 500 TL Poster Presentations Abstract Evaluation Committee will select oral presentations from the abstracts sent to the Congress. Oral presentation sessions will be held as two separate sessions at the second and third days of the congress. Time allotted to each speaker for presentation is 8 minutes, for discussion is 2 minutes with a total of 10 minutes. Poster Presentations Abstract Evaluation Committee will select poster presentations from the abstracts sent to the Congress. Posters will be displayed at a separate area which will be determined by the organizing board. Poster Discussions will be held at the poster area with the moderators at the second and fourth day of the congress. Posters should be prepared 70 cm width and 90 cm height and easily legible from one meter distance. Authors should post their posters at 08:00 and remove them at 17:00 at the mentioned days at the program. The posters not removed after the specified time will be collected by the organization. Submission of Abstracts Only online abstract submissions through the congress web site (www.kmtd.org.tr) will be accepted. Abstracts send by , cargo, mail ext.. will not be accepted. You can access online abstract submission system abstractagent through the congress web site. Abstract Submission Deadline: September 21, 2012 Abstracts which will be presented in the congress should contribute to scientific developments and should contain a result. Abstracts sent through the online system will be published directly. Therefore all authors are responsible for typographical mistakes.
8 RULES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION Rules for Abstract Submission 1. Abstracts will be collected through online abstract submission system. Font size and punto will be set by the system. 2. Academic titles should not be used in the names. 3. Author's institution name and address should be written completely. 4. First letter of the abstract title should be capitalized. (Abbreviations are exempt). 5. Type of the presentation should be marked as oral, poster or no preference. 6. Abstract should contain objective, methods, results and conclusion. 7. The text should not exceed 400 words. Abstracts submissions without obeying any of these rules will not be evaluated.
