Served as a senior officer of a $12 billion financial institution. Functioned as an internal consultant to executive management on the strategic and tactical impact of organizational growth, technological advances, and operational changes. Helped manage an information systems outsourcing contract with annual billings in excess of $40 million. Created and managed a Quality Assurance project management program for the company. This program established guidelines, reviewed cost-benefit analysis, monitored progress, and evaluated the implementation of major projects. Directed internal auditing activities in financial, MIS, and operational areas in a variety of environments. Supervised a pilot program that re-engineered business processes in the Audit Department. Managed recruiting and training programs for the department. As a member of the Board of Directors of a national information systems users group (National Trust Systems Association), directed various studies and programs relating to the evaluation of products and services provided nationwide by a major financial services provider. 6 Served in the U.S. Army. Honorably discharged. COURSES TAUGHT MIS 3310 Management Information Systems This is a required course for all BBA majors at Texas A&M International University. It explores both theoretical and applied aspects of business-oriented information systems, including economics, benefits, liabilities, ethics, and security. I have taught this course in both face-to-face and online settings. MIS 4390 Information Resource Management This is the capstone course in information systems. It provides an overview of the information systems management function, and emphasizes techniques and issues specific to the development, implementation, and operation of computer information systems. It also covers topics such as management of an information systems department, legal and societal issues, and the planning and management of computer acquisitions. MIS 5360 Management of Information Systems This graduate-level course at Texas A&M International University explores issues relating to the administration of management information systems, including planning and development; control and evaluation; organization and personnel. Societal and technological issues are also addressed from both a domestic and global managerial perspective. MGT 3310 Principles of Management and Organizational Behavior This is a required course for all BBA majors at Texas A&M International University. It is a study of managerial concepts, principles (planning, organizing, directing and controlling), and analysis of organizational behavior (needs, motivations, personality, leadership, group dynamics and communication). 7 This is a core course for all business majors at the University of Texas at San Antonio. It provides students a level of proficiency necessary to master the basic concepts and functions of the Microsoft Office productivity suite. It is an online course. IS Principles of Information Systems for Management This is an upper-level core course in the BBA program at the University of Texas at San Antonio. It covers hardware, software, and network technologies, along with systems development activities. Issues related to project management, organizational controls, security, and globalization are also discussed. IS 5003 Introduction to Information Systems This is a graduate-level core course required of all University of Texas at San Antonio MBA students. It is a conceptual study of information systems in organizations, including the use of information systems for competitive advantage, project management, systems development life cycle, governance of the information systems function, information systems risk and security, and ethical issues in information systems. GBA 7013 Research Methods I This PhD-level seminar at the University of Texas at San Antonio is an introduction to the broad topic of research methods in the context of academic research in the business disciplines. The major objective is to lay a foundation that helps prepare the PhD student for a future role as a productive academician and researcher. DISC Systems Analysis and Design This is a senior-level course at the University of Houston intended to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the system development life cycle, help students understand the role of the systems analyst in today's business organization, and furnish students with the skills they need to successfully function as a systems analyst. DISC Information Systems Assisted with this MBA-level core course at the University of Houston that provides a managerial perspective on the effective use of information systems for competitive advantage in organizations.
