OUTREACH INITIATIVES The following outreach initiatives were completed by the SEU during the reporting period: A. Job Fair: The employment unit participated in the following job fairs by providing radio advertising for each event during the reporting period. 6 information and instructions on how to submit resumes and applications to the company s website. 1. On November 4, 214, the SEU participated in a career fair at City Christian School, 92 NE Freemont, Portland, OR On February 25, 215, the SEU participated in The City of Portland s Annual Diversity Employment Day Career Fair held at the Ambridge Events Center, 133 NE MLK Jr. Blvd., Portland, OR The SEU did on-air advertisements and the SEU was listed as a Co-Media Sponsor and Diversity Partner. 3. On June 3, 215 the SEU participated in The Employment & Business Fair at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland, OR On August 26, 215, the SEU participated in Portland s Annual Diversity Employment Day Career Fair held at the Ambridge Events Center, 133 NE MLK Jr. Blvd., Portland, OR The SEU did onair advertisements and the SEU was listed as a Co-Media Sponsor and Diversity Partner. B. Management Training: 1. The Salem Director of Human Resources conducts monthly HR Network Training sessions via teleconference and PowerPoint presentations, which includes review of EEO policies and compliance. The SEU s Business Manager participates in these training sessions each month and then routinely communicates with the SEU s General Manager and other management team members to keep all employees apprised of the Company and SEU s policy on equal employment. 2. The Business Manager attended a corporate training conference in Camarillo, CA from July 2-21, 215. This was an all-inclusive training on all corporate policies and procedures. C. Training for Higher Level Positions: The SEU has a training program designed to enable station personnel to acquire skills to qualify for higher level positions. The Sales Assistant was being cross trained in Human Resources requirements and responsibilities and has now been promoted to that position. Also, the Traffic Assistant is being cross trained in Accounts Receivables. All training is an on-going effort to prepare these employees for advancement within the company. D. Mentoring Program for Higher Level Positions: The SEU has an ongoing mentoring program designed to enable station personnel to acquire skills to qualify for higher level positions. Various station personnel mentor other employees at least two times per month, which includes mentoring a Sales Manager for a General Manager position and mentoring a Talk Show Producer for an Operations Director position should any become available locally or elsewhere in the chain. Other Activities: The SEU considers the opportunity to give children tours of the radio stations a chance for them to learn about radio and media therefore, possibly peak an interest in future careers. 1. On December 17, 214 a group of homeschool students and parents had a studio tour lead by our Promotions Director. 2. On March 13, 215 a tour was led by our Talk Show Host to a group of children from Southwest Christian School from the Beaverton area. 3. Tours on May 6 th & 8 th, 215 were given by our Program Director to two different groups of homeschool students from the Southeast Christian Homeschool Co-op in the metro area. 4. A group of summer school students from Columbia Christian School in Portland were given a tour by our Program Director on August 26, 215. Rvsd Aug 29 EEO Public File Report Page 7
