3 INTRODUCTION The Fun 4 Hire Service provides a wide range of exciting activity packs for hire primarily for use by voluntary, community and statutory groups within East Ayrshire. Hires to commercial organisations and/or to groups outwith East Ayrshire may be available but at an additional charge (see conditions of hire on page 21 for further details). A number of packs can only be hired with fully trained staff (staff costs included in the price) but many of the packs can be hired without staff. If you are interested in hiring equipment without staff but are unsure how to use it then an instruction booklet is provided with each pack. Training sessions are also run throughout the year - take a look at the centre pull-out for details. If you are interested in hiring any of the equipment then please read the conditions of hire, booking procedure and contact pages at the back of the book. 4 PRE-SCHOOL PHYSICAL PLAY This pack provides a variety of larger play equipment, which can be used with under 5s to promote physical activity. This pack is particularly suitable for special events and fun days. Equipment can only be used indoors. This pack comes inclusive of set up cost and 2 members of staff. This pack is ideal for 8 years and upwards. This pack can be hired on its own or with fully trained staff. 7 NEW AGE KURLING New Age Kurling is a form of the game of curling but instead of playing on ice it is played on any smooth surface such as sports halls and dance floors. The game can be played by able bodied and disabled people on an equal footing. The ideal area is a badminton court or other area approx 13m long although this can be adpated to suit the level of the participant. The programme was developed by the Golf Foundation and uses specifically modified, brightly coloured, child friendly equipment. Tri-Golf can involve up to 20 children at any one time (depending on playing area available) and can be used either indoors or outdoors. 8 STRIKE IT HEALTHY BOARD GAME The Strike it Healthy board game is an exciting resource which can be used to develop children s knowledge and understanding of a number of factors which contribute to a healthy lifestyle. There are two sizes of the board game - 1m 2 and 3m 2. This means that the game can be used in either a physical session within a large area or a quieter session within a more confined space. 10 FUN 4 HIRE TRAINING CALENDAR 2014/15 This calendar offers a range of courses which are both innovative and practical and will assist in the delivery of play related sessions to organisations who work with children and young people alike. All courses last no longer than 3 hours and can be tailored to the needs of individual groups. All training is subject to change and/or cancellation. Please ensure that comfortable clothing & footwear are worn to take part in active play activities. Bring still juice/water. Discounts available for large groups wishing to attend (12+). 11 FUN FITNESS AND PHYSICAL PLAY This session demonstrates how to set up a challenging but fun circuit; plus games to play with all the equipment within these kits. High level of participation will be required. 13 BALLOON MODELLING This pack can be used at fun days or as a creative workshop. As part of a fun day it is suitable for all ages but as a workshop it is suitable for 8 years and upwards. This pack can be used as a workshop for up to 36 people and can be hired with fully trained staff or on it s own if you have attended Fun4Hire training. 15 SMALL BOUNCY CASTLES The Fun 4 Hire Service now has three small inflatables which are ideal for fun days and small fundraising events. Due to health & safety implications bouncy castles must be supervised by 2 East Ayrshire employees at all times. Hiring groups must have and produce evidence of public liability insurance and access to mains electricity. Delivery & supervision costs included in price. PARTY CASTLE TECHNICAL INFORMATION Length : 7.5m Width : 4.2m Height : 4.5m A max of 8 children can use this castle at any one time. Recommended 5-12 years. Requires a site of 8.5 x 5.5m (not concrete) and cannot be operated in adverse weather conditions. CASTLE TECHNICAL INFORMATION Length : 3.3m Width : 2.9m Height : 3.9m A max of 5 children can use this castle at any one time. Recommended 0-7 years INFLATABLE SLIDE TECHNICAL INFORMATION Length : 3.2m Width : 3.8m Height : 4.4m A max of 2 children can climb the stairs at any one time, start times are staggered. 16 GIANT INFLATABLE 2 PART GIANT INFLATABLE ASSAULT COURSE This exciting inflatable, which is suitable for 5-12 years, is ideal for fun days, galas and fundraising events. This inflatable requires to be sited in a large games hall or field - not concrete (12.5m x 3.5m) with access to an electric socket. Due to health and safety implications bouncy castles must be supervised by 3 East Ayrshire employees at all times. Hiring groups must have and produce evidence of public liability insurance. Delivery and supervision costs are included in the price. 17 These packages are ideal for groups who want to take the hassle out of planning a larger event or can be used to replace the traditional end of year trip. The packages include planning time with a member of the Fun 4 Hire Team as well as staff to supervise the equipment during the fun day. Delivery and supervision costs are included in the price. 18 CONDITIONS OF HIRE Equipment being hired without staff (where applicable) and being collected must be uplifted from and returned to Vibrant Communities, Greenholm Street, Kilmarnock, KA1 4DJ at the agreed times. Normal office hours are:- Monday to Thursday 9am - 5pm and Friday from 9am - 4pm Equipment requiring EAC staff supervision will be delivered. Commercial hires will include a 100% surcharge on prices stated within the booklet. Cost of replacing lost, damaged or stolen items please note that if you are proposing to hold an event that is open to the public a public entertainment licence may be required. For further information please call the Licensing Board Administration on is the responsibility of the hiring group. Cost of any additional generators will be met by the hirer. Groups who wish to hire outwith East Ayrshire will include a surcharge of 50% plus an additional mileage charge of 45p per mile. Booking times must be strictly adhered to. Standard daily charges will be made for late returns. Bookings/cancellations must be made one week in advance. Group leaders should supervise the use of equipment at all times. Equipment should be returned in the condition it is received and breakages or damages should be reported. Where EAC staff are leading a session, hiring group leaders must always stay in attendance and participate as appropriate. Where EAC staff turn up to deliver a session or event and no cancellation has been received, a charge will be incurred. Where EAC cancel a session due to bad weather (for outdoor equipment) or due to unforeseen circumstances, no charge will be made and an appropriate alternative will be offered, where feasible. Staffed hires cannot take place beyond 9pm. Staffed hires will be unavailable during bank holiday weekends, and school holiday periods. EAC reserve the right to refuse any hire. Prices are correct at time of print and are subject to change. Prices are subject to review from 1 April each year. 18
19 BOOKING PROCEDURE Telephone to determine availability, at least two weeks in advance. Confirm pick up, return and/or delivery dates and times. Download booking form or Vibrant Communities send by post. Complete and return booking form no later than one week before hire date. (Bookings remain provisional until form is received by Vibrant Communities). Booking confirmation /postcard will be sent when completed booking form has been received. Uplift equipment from Vibrant Communities. Return equipment to Vibrant Communities by agreed date and time. Payments for hires under 20 must be paid by cash, debit or credit* card or cheque (made payable to East Ayrshire Council) to Vibrant Communities, Greenholm Street, Kilmarnock, KA1 4DJ on return of equipment. Payments for hires over 20 can be paid by cash, cheque, debit or credit* card on return of the equipment or invoiced (28 days to pay from date of issue) or EAC journal entry (please supply 13 digit charge code on booking form). 20 Training The Training programme is designed to provide parents and carers with activity ideas for playing with their child from the earliest days. This programme:- * Provides parents and carers with free information and guidance * Encourages children s enjoyment of physical activity and play from an early age * Encourages communication through talking and listening * Develops body awareness and promotes the development of physical movement, co-ordination and motor skills * Promotes the value of social interaction and stimulus so that children learn to interact socially and communicate * Promotes the value of physical touch and positive reassurance This course will provide you with a whole host of ideas on how to promote family play within the home.
