1 PHYSICAL EDUCATION/HEALTH COURSES PHYSICAL EDUCATION/HEALTH KINDERGARTEN GRADE 2 The Kindergarten through Grade 2 Physical Education program is designed to develop a positive attitude in children toward physical activity. The introduction to good health behaviors and habits and appropriate social relationships provides a foundation for developing one s physical, social, mental, and emotional well-being. Students gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and kinesthetic awareness are increased through participation in a variety of movement-oriented games and activities that stress learning through fun. Basic skill development and lead-up games provide opportunities for students to prepare themselves for the various individual and team sports they will engage in during grades 3-5. PHYSICAL EDUCATION/HEALTH GRADES 3-5 The purpose of the Intermediate Physical Education/Health program is to develop each student physically, socially, and emotionally through developmentally appropriate activities which lead to a healthy and productive life. The middle school program includes team sports and individual sports, physical conditioning, and dance/rhythms. HEALTH Students who are physically, mentally, and socially well are better able to benefit from school learning experiences and to develop good lifetime health habits.
