Only entries made by or endorsed by the player s national associations can be accepted. All MNAs must provide an official contact person from the Federation who will be responsible for all entries from that country. Entries should be sent by . Closing date is Friday 12th of August The tournament will start at hrs on Friday, 26 August and all participants must be prepared to play at this time. The Finnish Junior Open is part of the European Junior Circuit. We hope to see you and your players in the Talihalli in Helsinki! 2 Finnish Junior Open Championships helsinki The Finnish Squash Association and Talihalli, Helsinki proudly presents the FINNISH JUNIOR OPEN 2016 part of the EUROPEAN JUNIOR CIRCUIT 2016/17 DATES Friday August 26th to Sunday August 28th. Matches are expected to commence on Friday at 17:00 hrs and the prize giving ceremony will be on Sunday at approx. 16:00 hrs. VENUE Talihalli, Huopalahdentie 28, Helsinki CLOSING DATE The closing date for entries is Friday, August 12th 2016 The official entry form must be sent by to the Finnish Squash Association. CATEGORIES BU 19 GU 19 (Both u19 classes are PSA Closed Satellite events) BU 17 GU 17 BU 15 GU 15 BU 13 GU 13 Players are allowed to enter only one category. All players are guaranteed three scheduled rounds. ELIGIBILITY The Finnish Junior Open is open to all players under the age of 13, 15, 17 or 19 on the 28th of August All players must have an active, paid-for SPIN (squash player identification number) to participate. To register please visit SEEDING The seeding will be carried out using the ESF Junior Rankings valid at the closing date and in accordance with ESF Junior Circuit Guidelines. MATCHES All matches will be played as best of five games (PAR 11 to 2 clear points), under the rules of the WSF. 2

3 REFEREEING All players will be expected to mark and referee matches. BALL The Dunlop Pro ball will be used. (White ball on the glass court) PRIZES Prize money in the u19 Boys / Girls categories 1 st 150, 2 nd 100 and 3 rd 75 Trophies will be awarded in all categories. EYE GUARDS According to ESF rules, all players must wear approved Eye Guards when entering a court either for practice or a match during the event. INSURANCE Players enter and play in the tournament at their own risk. Neither the organisers nor the ESF accept any responsibility for injury arising from participating in the event. Players must arrange their own insurance. The named responsible person must be an official representative of the association and will be responsible for all entries from that country. The finalised draws will be published at the venue and put on the internet at the start of the event. RECORDING OF MATCHES Matches may be recorded for coaching/performance analysis providing players and their parents/coaches do not object. 5 The event complies with the European Junior Circuit Guidelines - a copy of which is available on - all participating MNAs should make sure that all relevant people (including coaches, managers and players) are aware of the Guidelines and their requirements. CANCELLATIONS The costs for hotel packages cannot be refunded for any cancellations received on or after 25 August. For cancellations between the 12th 24th of August, only a 50% refund will be made (less all bank charges). TRANSPORT The transportation from / to the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is included in the package fees. The flight schedule should be informed at the latest on the 22nd of August to the Finnish Squash Association by . Please note that the transportation service is only available to those players who have bought a Hotel Package WITHDRAWALS / ESF PENALTIES E4.a) If a player makes a late withdrawal from a tournament (2 days or less before the start date), a doctor s certificate confirming injury/illness must be provided to avoid penalties. The medical certificate (with a translation in English) must clearly state the player s name, date of birth and the nature of the illness/injury; the certificate must cover the date of the relevant tournament and must be sent to the ESF office within two days after the final day of the tournament ( esf@europeansquash.com; fax ). Any player making a late withdrawal not supported by a medical certificate will receive zero points for the tournament which will count as one of their 4 best results for the rolling 12 month period and will be taken into account when dividing the points to obtain the ranking average. This penalty will be applied automatically unless the ESF office receives a doctor s certificate within two days of the final day of the tournament. If a player commits this offence for a second time within a 12 month period, he/she will be banned from the ESF Junior Circuit for a period of 12 months. b) If a player has entered a tournament and fails to turn up, he/she will receive zero ranking points for the tournament. These zero points will count as one of the player s 4 best results for the rolling 12 month period and will be taken into account when dividing the points to obtain the ranking average. This penalty will be applied automatically. If a player commits this offence for a second time within a 12 month period, he/she will be banned from the ESF Junior Circuit for a period of 12 months. c) If a player fails to play out all scheduled matches for any reason other than illness or injury, he/she will receive zero ranking points for the tournament. Illness or injury must be verified by the tournament director and, if possible, by medical certificate sent to the ESF office within two days of the final day of the tournament. If zero points are awarded, the points will count as one of the player s 4 best results for the rolling 12 month period and will be taken into account when dividing the points to obtain the ranking average. This penalty will be applied automatically. If a player commits this offence for a second time within a 12 month period, he/she will be banned from the ESF Junior Circuit for a period of 12 months. 5
