2 We are all photographers. Lately the possibility to record our life through image becomes a common action which describes our existence in a free window open to the world: the Web. How fashion is developing in such a world full of images, if itself is made by pictures? Fashion photography was never made by a special technique or an unique point of view, but from visions and intuitions. Today photographer's work is getting inspired and producing new creativity, transforming ideas in pictures to share, considering time and converting still images in motion pictures, the new frontier of fashion: video. 3 This master is for who believe that fashion image is constantly developing between new media and new technologies, in a constant research of new imaginary creating new visions for the next generation fashion campaign and editorials. Photography is changing fast as fast is changing our perception compare the reality around us and photography itself, we want to create the possibility to explore new creativity for fashion, a new answer to a world saturated of pictures. The target is to open new visions on next generation photographers in a very high professional profile creating high quality images. 4 COURSE GUIDELINES 1. FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY Photography before and after avant-garde, surrealism, fashion photography and sociology, fashion photography from portraits to the video era, publishing. 2. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY TECHNIQUE: STUDIO WORK Working with natural light, continuous lights and flash; studio and location, post production, color correction, editing; (software: Adobe CameraRaw, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Indesign). 3. DIGITAL ART From graphic design to editing, compositing and art direction (Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator); 4. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY TECHNIQUE: ADOBE PHOTOSHOP POSTPRODUCTION 5. MOTION: VIDEO ART Video art and video slanguages, from still to motion, editing, color correction, compositing; viral (Final Cut Pro, Adobe AfterEffects); 6. WEB MEDIA From blogs to digital editorial, from pictures to video, web and networking; 7. DESIGN: ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR - INDESIGN 8. MOTION: FINAL CUT - VIDEO EDITING Each class is preparatory to weekly exercises. Each subject matter runs in parallax order together with the others, in order to speed up student s creative and professional growth (please see MCFP_TIMELINE_SCHEDULE). 6 Darkroom Darkroom equipped for B&W process, with five enlargers, from small format up to 4x5 Classrooms Classrooms equipped with tables, video projector, Epson film scanner. 7 CERTIFICATE 'TheDarkroom' is the department of photography and multimedia of the school 'Centro Italiano Firenze' in Florence, recognized with acknowledgment of the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research on The school 'Centro Italiano Firenze' is also recognized by the University for Foreigners of Siena as a test center for the CILS certification. This professional master course allow access to the recognized qualification of "Photographer specialist expert of fashion photography and visual communication" ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS This program is open to whom has already a good basic preparation in Photography and is able to carry on normal photographic works in total autonomy. This program is designed to provide a deep knowledge in fashion photography technique and fashion photography creativity, as well as to prepare a consistent portfolio with images for to step in the fashion photography world. At the end of this program the candidate will be able to promote him/herself as freelance photographer to companies, agencies and magazines. No beginners nor intermediate students can be admitted. A prior academic course in photography should be completed before to attend this master course. A portfolio assessing the actual skills of the candidate is required at time of enrollment. Please forward your portfolio at enrollment@thedarkroom.it ENROLLMENT Candidates should submit a portfolio showing their own preparation in photography, such as their skills in using camera, computer, post production and any other skill they believe important to be admitted to this program. Students will have to work in the photographic studio, so a good manual skill and attitude to hand work is required. 8 THEACHERS RUGGERO LUPO MENGONI - course supervisor Ruggero Lupo Mengoni photographs in fashion industry shooting editorials since He was twice finalist on the International Talent Support of Diesel and Mini, he won the second prize of Biennale della Fotografia of Turin in 2004, and his research is still developing in fashion and art shooting editorials. Recents works are video clips and video art he shoots for musicians and for fashion industry. In 2012 is finalist in ASVOFF competition by Diane Pernet and Vogue Italia in Milan with his video 'NERO' projected in 'Teatro dell'arte' of 'Triennale of Milan' during the Milan Fashion Week. He collaborates with Luisa via Roma, Uomo Collezioni, Women Magazine, WU Magazine, C-Head Magazine, Impulse, Let Them Eat Cake, Men's Health, Cake It, Vogue, Financial Times. He works in Florence, Milan and London. DARIO ORLANDI Photojournalist since 2001 until 2005 for italian daily press (L Unità, La Repubblica), then as agency photographer for press (TamTam Fotografie, Fotogramma) and magazines (Massimo Sestini Newspictures). His images have been published on the main italian newspapers and magazines, other than international publications. He has collaborated with companies and institutions such as Audemars Piguet, Harry Winston, Richemont, Comando Generale dell Arma dei Carabinieri, United Nations Development Programme. He has been teaching photography in universities for foreigners students (Florence University of the Arts, Lorenzo de Medici International School, Accademia Europea di Firenze), workshops, other than a yearly course in Sanremo Art Academy. 9 FRANCESCO D ISA Your guide through this journey will be Francesco D'Isa, pioneer in digital art in Italy, cartoonist, art curator, writer and journalist. Graduated in Philosophy, his art has been exhibited in Europe, USA and Asia, while his texts has been featured in Italian and foreign magazines. So far he published a comic book (2011) and a novel (2014). JACOPO ADDINI Jacopo Addini graduates in 2004 in the Superior Course for Direction at 'Barbarano CineLab', directed by Marco Müller. He has worked on cinematographic sets with Wilma Labate, Spike Lee, Ron Howard, Jane Campion. He has directed many videoclips for Italian and international bands and groups. Besides his cinematographic and videomaking activity he develops his personal project on contemporary art. His installations and productions are exposed at BJCEM, Biennale des Jeunes Créateurs de l'europe et de la Mediterranée (Skopje, Macedonia), Artissima Lido 2011 (Turin, Italy), Sinopale 4, Biennale di Sinop (Sinop, Turkey), Museion (Bolzano, Italy), Strozzina CCCS, Centro di Cultura Contemporanea of Palazzo Strozzi (Florence, Italy), Museo Marino Marini (Florence, Italy), Villa Romana (Florence, Italy), Swiss Institute (Milan, Italy), D.A.M.S, University of Gorizia (Italy).
