3 ABOUT CANSO CANSO the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation is the global voice of air traffic management (ATM) worldwide. CANSO Members support over 85% of world air traffic. Members share information and develop new policies, with the ultimate aim of improving air navigation services (ANS) on the ground and in the air. CANSO represents its Members views to a wide range of aviation stakeholders, including the International Civil Aviation Organization, where it has official Observer status. CANSO has an extensive network of Associate Members drawn from across the aviation industry. CANSO has five regions: Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America & Caribbean and the Middle East with offices in Johannesburg, Singapore, Brussels, Mexico City and Jeddah. Each region has a CANSO Region Director. In addition, the CANSO Director ICAO Affairs operates in Montreal. CANSO s regional offices coordinate activities at local level, within the framework of policies and positions agreed at CANSO global level. They represent the interests of ANSPs on regional initiatives such as regional airspace harmonisation, or the regional roll-out of operational improvements such as performance-based navigation (PBN) or ADS-B. CANSO has three standing committees: Safety Standing Committee (SSC), Policy Standing Committee (PSC) and Operations Standing Committee (OSC), which together with supporting workgroups deliver policy and set standards on behalf of Members. They bring together global experts to address issues of common interest; to exchange experience for the promotion of best practice; and to develop specific policies across a broad spectrum of issues.

4 CANSO EUROPE REGION CANSO s objectives in Europe are: to deliver a safe, efficient and sustainable air traffic management system across Europe; and strengthen air traffic management (ATM) performance. We act as the voice of the ATM industry in Europe with industry partners and European institutions; represent the interests of air navigation service providers; and seek to steer the development and implementation of European legislation. CANSO s Europe Region leads CANSO s policy and lobbying input into the European Commission, and coordinates air navigation service provider (ANSP) best practice in the region. Much of the focus is on shaping and influencing the Single European Sky initiative. When appropriate CANSO coordinates and aligns positions with the airspace user associations (AEA, IATA, ERA, IACA, EBAA, ELFAA, IOPA) and the airports / ACI. CANSO provides European regulators and aviation stakeholders with valuable expertise and insights into the air transport industry and particularly in the field of ATM. We monitor relevant European legislative and policy developments and advise our Members accordingly. European CANSO CEO Committee (EC3) The Europe CANSO CEO Committee (EC3) governs and directs CANSO s work in Europe, within the framework of the Organisation s global policies and positions. EC3 s key objective is to focus CANSO s influence in the development of the Single European Sky. EC3 is supported by the Director Europe Affairs and a number of subsidiary groups and task forces, dealing with a wide range of issues. CANSO European Coordination Meeting (CECM) The CANSO European Coordination Meeting (CECM) works under the guidance and instructions of EC3 in the development of policies and actions on questions of strategic interest to CANSO s Europe Members.

CANSO European SAFety Group (CESAF) CESAF works under the guidance and instructions of EC3 in close coordination with CECM on its strategy and work plan. It deals with all safety developments in the Europe Region in close cooperation with the EUROCONTROL safety team and increasingly with EASA on all ATM related matters. CANSO EUROPE Task Forces Task Forces are established to work on specific topics decided by the CECM, based on the strategic objectives of the Europe Region and the related work plan for each year.

CANSO EUROPE REGION STAFF Guenter Martis Director European Affairs Based in Brussels, Guenter is responsible for CANSO activities and initiatives in Europe.

He represents CANSO and the ATM industry across the region with governmental and industry bodies.

He represents the interests of CANSO and its Members to promote and facilitate the development of air navigation services in the region. He represents CANSO and the ATM industry across the region with governmental and industry bodies. These include EUROCONTROL, the Industry Consultation Body, the SESAR Joint Undertaking Administrative Board and EU Social Dialogue which he co-chairs. Eduardo García González Manager European ATM Coordination and Safety Eduardo coordinates CANSO positions on technical, operations and safety matters. He coordinates CANSO s involvement with the Agency Advisory Body of EUROCONTROL; ICAO; the Interoperability Sub Group of the Industry Consultation Body; and the European Aviation Safety Agency. Danilo Pisciottu Manager European Regulatory and Social Affairs Danilo manages CANSO s contribution to the EU Social Dialogue and the coordination of CANSO s actions on specific regulatory developments under the Single European Sky, such as the Performance Scheme. He also facilitates CANSO s lobbying activities towards the European Union Institutions. Dimitra Ballard European Communications and Administration Officer Dimitra assists in the development and implementation of the region s communication strategy. She also supports the organisation of information events and general office management.

8 CANSO Europe Region represents 31 ANSPs in the region, mainly from EU member States, but also from non-eu States. We operate via a highly streamlined organisation where Members meet regularly to set the strategic objectives and the related agenda to agree on common, practical performance improvement targets in a wide range of areas. In specific task forces we bring together experts from Members to address issues of common interest as well as to exchange best practices.
