You can use this to automatically create a properly formatted citation using a citation style of your choice. Your saved citations can then be easily copied and pasted into your documents. It allows users o automatically create citations from websites. Citation formats include APA, MLA, Chicago and Harvard referencing styles. Learning Objectives Completion of this tutorial will give you experience with the following: An ability to turn on and use the Cite This For Me: Web Citer Extension in Google Chrome. This tutorial assumes A computer with Google Chrome Browser V.44+ An internet connection is required for this Activity. Earlier versions of Chrome may also work however they are not covered by the scope of this information. Case Study: Frankie is a grade 11 student who enjoys researching online for articles to support her topics in Language Arts but has a difficult time consistently citing material and creating a bibliography with each assignment. Frankie and her teacher have set a goal to always cite material used and create a bibliography for each Language Arts assignment. Page 1 of 5 November 2015

2 Using the Cite This For Me Extension v in Google Chrome Web Store 1 From Chrome s Home Screen, find the Settings button in the top right hand corner of the screen. Click on this button to open the Settings Menu. 2 In the Settings menu, locate and click More Tools. Then locate and click Extensions in the drop down menu to access Chrome s Extensions Menu. 3 Locate the Get More Extensions link at the bottom of the Extensions page. Click the link to go to the Google Chrome Web Store. 4 Once in the Chrome Web Store, type Cite This For Me in the search box to search for the Cite This For Me Extension. Page 2 of 5 November 2015

3 5 Find the Cite This For Me extension in the list and click Add to Chrome. 6 Once Cite This For Me has been added to Chrome you will see the Cite This For Me icon in the upper right hand side of Chrome s toolbar. 7 Open a web page with a text based article that you want to want to create a citation for. Click the Cite This For Me icon in Chrome s Toolbar to bring up the Cite This For Me menu. 8 Users can choose a citation style by clicking the applicable button. 9 Users can attach a quote by highlighting text from the article. 4 10 Now click Add to bibliography. 11 A new tab will open and a confirmation window will appear. Make any necessary changes and then click Add reference to add the citation to your bibliography. 13 Biography citations are displayed in a list. Cite This For Me stores citations for 7 days before deleting. To store bibliographies longer than 7 days, users can create an account. 14 Created bibliographies can be downloaded in Word format. 15 Users can also search for sample bibliographies by entering a topic into the Search for essay title search bar. Sample bibliographies from other users will be displayed. Users can use the results as a starting point for their own research, or to add to their own bibliography. Page 4 of 5 November 2015

5 If you want to remove the Cite This For Me Extension once you have finished exploring, go to; Chrome Settings 2. More Tools Extensions. 3. Locate Cite This For Me Extension in the list 4. Click on the Garbage Can to remove it from Chrome. TASK After downloading and practicing with this Chrome App answer the following questions: 1.
