1 Installing a Browser Security Certificate for PowerChute Business Edition Agent The Agent component of PowerChute Business Edition has a "self-signed" security certificate. This means that when you access your Agent installation, your browser will display warnings about the validity and security of the Agent site. It is possible to proceed by ignoring the warnings, however we recommend installing the certificate as shown in the sections below. o o o Installing an Agent security certificate for Firefox Installing an Agent security certificate for Internet Explorer (IE) Installing an Agent security certificate for Chrome Note: If the host name, domain, or IP address of the server with your Agent installation changes, the installed certificate will not apply anymore and you will again get a security warning again. To fix this, go to the PowerChute Business Edition installation folder and delete the file named "keystore". After restarting the Agent a new certificate (keystore file) is generated. Then, follow the same steps below for your browser in order to install the new certificate. Installing an Agent security certificate for Firefox 1. After installing the PowerChute Agent, launch it, and Firefox displays the following warning:

2 2. Click on I Understand the Risks to see this: 3. Click the Add Exception button and this displays: 4. Click on Confirm Security Exception and your installation of PowerChute Agent is added to the browser's list of trusted sites. Installing an Agent security certificate for Internet Explorer (IE) 1. After installing the PowerChute Agent, launch it. The following should display:

3 2. Choose Continue to this website (not recommended). You should see a page similar to that below. 3. To the right of the address bar, click on Certificate Error. This small dialog displays:

4 4. Click View certificates. to display this: 5. Click Install Certificate...The Wizard dialog displays:

5 6. Choose Place all certificates in the following store and select Browse. 7. Select Trusted Root Certification Authorities and click OK. (It is possible that you might have to check "show physical stores", and then Local Computer under Trusted Root Certification Authorities). 8. Click Finish at Completing the Certificate Import Wizard. 9. Click Yes at the Security Warning dialog, shown below. This completes the installation of the security certificate on IE. Restart IE and you shouldn't see the warning dialog again. You should see this confirmation box below, click OK to finish. The Certificate dialog might still be open (see step 4 above). Click OK to close it.

6 Installing an Agent security certificate for Chrome After installing the PowerChute Agent, launch it, and Chrome displays the following warning: You have two options for installing a security certificate for Google Chrome A. Install the Chrome security certificate by using Internet Explorer At the time of writing, November 2012, Chrome does not have a way of installing a certificate from a URL. But as Chrome relies on the Windows certificate store, the method described directly above in "Installing an Agent security certificate for Internet Explorer (IE)" works for Chrome also. Launch the IE browser and follow those steps. Then restart Chrome and it will recognize the security certificate as being installed, so the warning for PowerChute Agent will not display again. B. Install the Chrome security certificate by importing When you go to a website and receive the security certificate warning, follow these steps: 1. Click the crossed-out lock symbol to the left of the URL in the address bar:. You should see this dialog:

7 2. Click on Certificate Information. 3. Click on the Details tab. 4. Click the Copy to File... button.

8 5. In the Wizard dialog, click Next. 6. Accept the DER encoded binary option and click Next. 7. Click Browse, select a folder and give the file a name. Save the file. 8. Open the Google menu options, and click on Show Advanced Settings at the bottom of the page. This displays another set of menu options.

9 9. Click on Manage certificates Click the Trusted Root Certification Authorities tab and then click the Import... button. 11. On the File Import page, select the file you previously created. 12. Click Next twice and then Finish. 13. Click OK to close import successful dialog, and OK to close the Certificates dialog. 14. Restart Chrome, and you should no longer see the security warning.
