1 YMCA of Niagara Day Camp Summer 2015 YMCA Day Camps St. Catharines - Niagara Falls - Niagara West

2 Welcome to YMCA of Niagara Day Camp! We are excited to be offering another summer full of fun, friendship and adventure to your child(ren). We have been working hard to ensure the summer of 2015 is the most memorable summer yet! There are three equal parts to our Day Camp recipe: High quality, outcome based programming 88% of campers made a new friend at camp 91% of campers demonstrated character development 81% of campers tried something new that they enjoyed while at camp 90% of campers felt included at camp Dedicated and inspiring staff My favorite part of camp, of course, was being a part of the camper s day and making sure they had the best summer they possibly could have, even if they were only there for a week. - Summer Camp Staff The experience of being a counsellor is one of the most rewarding jobs you can find. You see the changes and progress your camper improves upon, and the challenges that you help them overcome. - Summer Camp Staff I really enjoyed being a part of summer camp, waking up each day for work was enjoyable. The relationships I made with the campers and staff will be something I cherish. - Summer Camp Staff To ensure high quality leadership at YMCA Camps, all staff and volunteers are carefully selected based on their maturity, experiences and ability to role model YMCA values. All YMCA staff hold current First Aid/CPR-C certification and staff and volunteers over 18 years old hold a Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. Our staff are trained in YMCA Healthy Child Development frameworks and Asset Building approaches. They also receive training in program planning and behaviour management techniques. Supportive and engaged parents and guardians My son enjoyed the variety of camps he was able to attend, each of them providing a unique experience and opportunity for physical fitness. - Camp parent My granddaughter just loved it. She came home with a happy face every day and always looked forward to going back. I felt our granddaughter was safe and had excellent supervision, which is very important to us. I would not hesitate to send her back to the YMCA day camp, or recommend it to other families. - Camp grandparent Most importantly, I was confident that a program run through the Y would be safe, well organized and age appropriate. I believed that the Y programs would provide opportunity for my son to be active during the day. - Camp parent Camp provides an outdoor setting, with lots of engaging activities, and the beads! Every day on the drive home I would be told story after story explaining all the things my daughter did to earn her Values Beads. - Camp parent As your family becomes an important part of our Day Camp recipe, please feel free to contact us directly with comments and feedback. Melissa Wilcox Day Camp Director x 282 mwilcox@ymcaofniagara.ca Erin McBride General Manager of Day Camp and Youth Outreach x 329 emcbride@ymcaofniagara.ca * Information taken from the 2014 YMCA of Niagara Day Camp parent survey, staff survey and camper feedback. It s all about the At Day Camp, we strive to provide a healthy, safe and secure environment for all participants.
