Preschool programs operate with a ratio of 1 leader for every 6 children and all other camps operate with a ratio of 1 leader for every 10 campers. These ratios are supplemented with support from our Leader In Training program, mediators and volunteers from the community. All staff are certified in First Aid, CPR C and require a criminal reference check. In addition they are trained to interact with children in a positive and developmentally appropriate manner. All camps follow the Parks and Recreation Ontario HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development. Fair Play in Camps... Fun for Everyone The goal of City of Barrie Day Camps is to ensure all campers have a rewarding, memorable, safe and fun experience while participating in our program. Parents are encouraged to chat with their child(ren) about swim time rules and safety before coming to camp. After Camp Swim Lessons Immediately following camp at East Bayfield CC and Holly CC the City of Barrie offers summer swimming lessons! Special 1 week lessons begin at 4:15pm. Camp staff will escort your child to the change room where they will get ready for a 30-45min swimming lesson. Parents must pick up their child immediately following the lesson on the pool deck.
