Aworld7classtrackenduranceprogramreliesontheidentificationanddevelopmentofyoungand/oremerging talentwithappropriatephysiologyandskillsets.theseriderswillhavetocommittoyearroundtrainingandcom7 petitiononboththetrackandroadleadinguptotheultimategoal:producingaworldclassperformanceatthe 22TokyoOlympics. Tosupportthedevelopmentoftheprogramandtounderpinthesuccessonthetrack,astrongroadprogramis requiredtomaximizethephysiologicalpreparationneededtodeliverontheboards.toensurethisdevelopment staysontrack,extensiveroadcamps,andlevelappropriateroadracingfortheidentifiedgroupofnextgenwom7 encyclistswillbetargeted.suchaprogramwillalsoassistthedevelopmentofaselectgroupofidentifiedroad cycliststransitioningfromthejuniortotheeliteranks.theinclusionoftheseyoungidentifiedroadcyclistswill addanextradimensiontohowtheteamoperates;byworkingtogetherandachievingresultsbasedoneachcy7 clistclspecificskillset. ENSURINGOURFUTURE Astrongearlytalentidentificationplaniscrucialforthelong7termsuccessoftheNextGenWomen strackendur7 anceprogram.assuchthecoacheswillbeworkingcloselywiththerespectiveprovincialcyclingorganizationsand theircoachestoensureappropriateidentificationanddevelopmentopportunitiesareoffered. Fromtheprovinciallevel,thefirstpointofcontactwillbetheJuniorNationallevelProgramming.Inworkingin closeproximitytothenextgencoach(es)itisanticipatedthatthesystemwideprovincial,clubandpersonal coacheswillbeabletocontinuetoincreasetheleveloftheu19cohortofathletestoapointwhere,basedona similartrainingmodelandwithidenticalphilosophies,thebestemergingyoungriderswillbeabletotransition intothenextgenprogramwithouthesitation. SELECTIONANDMAINTENANCECRITERIA In216,thecoregroupoftheNextGenWomen strackenduranceprogramwillbeexistingu23/elitetrackriders committedtothelong7termsuccessofcyclingcanada swomen steampursuitprogram.duetotheevolvingna7 tureoftheprogram,thenumberofriderswillbelimitedinthefirstyearwithadditionalemergingandestablished riderscompletingprojectrostersasrequired.astheprogramevolves,thegoalistosecurearosterofriders1% committedtotheprogramyear7round. Introducedfor216willbeaspecificridermatrixbywhichindividualathleteswillbemonitoredandassessed throughouttheyear.continuedparticipationincyclingcanada swomen snextgentrackenduranceprogramwill bebasedonanannualreviewbythenextgencoachandmanagementteam.athleteswillbereviewedquarterly andannuallywithperformancereportcardssurroundingthedailytrainingenvironment,commitmenttothepro7 gram,andperformanceprogression. ANTIbDOPING All athletes in National Team programs should familiarize themselves with the rules of the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
