2 New career services for INSEAD Alumni It s always been a great idea to join your National Alumni Association. There are now 42 countries with associations, each offering its own special blend of networking events and lifelong learning activities. And for alumni who live in other countries or are always on the move, individual membership of the international INSEAD Alumni Association is always an option. Either way, you get exclusive access to online services, such as enhanced search criteria on the alumni address book, plus a vast range of databases and subscriptions through INSEAD s libraries. But now, the INSEAD Alumni Association has got together with the school itself to offer members a brand new web service: CareerLink. Combining the best features of a targeted jobs board and elite CV bank with online career development tools, it s another great reason to become a member. If you completed an MBA in the last few years, you probably know all about CareerLink and the other substantial investments the school has made in its career services, Thanks to the support of the INSEAD Alumni Association, it s time for alumni to benefit too. 3 INSEAD CareerLink and you So many opportunities, so many questions CareerLink is the result of demand from both alumni and recruiters. Thanks to INSEAD s reputation for attracting the best and making them even better, companies and recruitment consultants have been asking the school how they can reach MBA graduates at all stages in their careers. They re also very keen to recruit all alumni, not just MBAs. At the same time, former participants from all programmes have been requesting support and career opportunities tailored to their own very specific needs. CareerLink not only satisfies demand from both parties but - best of all puts them in touch with each other. In particular, the response from executive search firms has been phenomenal. The new online service offers you: Job ads targeted at INSEAD alumni which you won t find anywhere else A secure, discreet site where you can approve your career profile for viewing and post your CV selected recruiters and headhunters, screened by INSEAD, will then come to you Consultancy and part-time opportunities, as well as traditional posts suitable for those who aren t on the jobs market or even retired Online, interactive careers support, such as résumé building and skills profiling A method of benchmarking your career are you achieving your full potential? How do I become a member of the INSEAD Alumni Association? If you re a member of a National Alumni Association you re already signed up collectively. If you prefer, however, you can join the IAA individually. If you re not an existing member, just go to the IAA page on INSEAD Connect ( insead.edu/) and follow the links to join. How do I search for jobs? First, make sure you belong to INSEAD Alumni Association (IAA). Membership enables you to register and start looking for jobs as soon as CareerLink launches (in the next few weeks). You can also opt to receive alerts, each time new jobs that match your criteria are posted. How do I post my CV or profile? Again, membership of the IAA (usually though your local association) is the first step. Then you simply have to approve your career profile (from the INSEAD Connect database) on the CareerLink site, updating it if necessary, and check the box to agree that INSEAD s approved recruiters may view it. After that, you can either create your CV online or post an existing résumé in pdf format. Will anyone be able to contact me? Only registered recruiters, who are validated by INSEAD and adhere to our strict terms and conditions, will be able to see your CV and contact you. You can also block certain approaches according to your own criteria. And you can opt for your profile not to appear at all, if you wish. What if I m not actively job seeking? You can still register to keep an eye on the market and check you re reaching your full potential. Who knows? You might spot your dream job or get an offer you can t refuse. CareerLink is also designed for people looking for short-term, part-time or consultancy roles, so there s something for everyone. How much will it cost me? Registration on CareerLink is absolutely free to members of the INSEAD Alumni Association. 4 Five steps to the opportunity of your dreams What next? Continued... How much will it cost recruiters? All recruiters can post jobs and search career summaries free of charge. They pay a modest fee only to download CVs and contact details (it s free to alumni who are also recruiters). In addition to job ads, alerts and CV posting, what else can CareerLink offer me? All those registered will have access to the free career advice on INSEAD s Career Services homepage. This includes job market info, CV advice, lists of Executive Search firms, interactive tools and much more. Can I post jobs on behalf of my employer? It would be better to register your employer on the system, unless you don t mind responses going to your personal account. It may also be confusing to job hunters if you don t make it clear who is recruiting. 1. Make sure you re a member of the INSEAD Alumni Association. 2. Check that your details in INSEAD Connect are up-to-date. 3. Register on CareerLink as soon as you get the launch Check the box allowing your career profile to appear and/or sign up to receive alerts based on your chosen criteria For those who aren t already INSEAD Alumni Association members Go to the INSEAD Connect ( alumni.insead.edu/) IAA page and follow the links to join either your National Alumni Association or the international umbrella organisation. Also make sure that your preferred address is correct on the school s alumni platform, INSEAD Connect. Then, when you get our about the launch of CareerLink in the next few weeks, you ll be able to register immediately both to search for your dream job and for it to find you. You ll also have a whole year of other membership benefits from social and networking events to online subscriptions, via the INSEAD library system, to leading business journals and databases.
