We promote professional excellence and work in partnership with planners throughout the country to assist them to shape the future according to the changing and diverse needs of all New Zealanders. Our members have access to a wide range of professional and social networking opportunities that enable them to up-skill and interact with their peers in planning and related disciplines. Members are obliged to keep their knowledge and skills up to date by devoting a certain number of hours every year to Continuing Professional Development. Before anyone is granted Full membership, they must also complete a satisfactory membership interview conducted by a panel of 3 Full members. The membership interview is the most important part of the membership process. It tests knowledge, experience, planning philosophy and commitment to planning as a profession. 4 Who Receives Job Alerts? Planners in New Zealand and abroad receive weekly job alerts. They are distributed to NZPI members, including student members. Job alerts are distributed along with news, events, and other items of interest even to those not actively searching for jobs; therefore, you may find your position is noticed by someone not actively searching for a planning job. In addition, anyone (including non-members) can view your position announcements from the NZPI website. We will advertise your position until the closing date or up to one month. With our service, you can reach planners of all levels throughout New Zealand and globally. Remember, NZPI Situations Vacant Advertising Service allows you to create your own customised advertisement that specifically targets qualified planners. Other services may have word limits, or their awkward job categories make it difficult to locate planning advertisements. Our service gives you at least one full A4 page that you customise with your own text and graphics to meet your needs. Booking an Advertisement New job opportunities are uploaded to our website every Thursday; NZPI s members are alerted to these the same day through Planning Focus (our weekly e-bulletin). The deadline for placing an advertisement is WEDNESDAY 11AM anything received after this deadline may not be advertised until the following week. 1. Download a booking form from our website (go to then click Advertise ). 2. the booking form and your advertisement as you wish it to appear the address provided. That s it! We will send your booking confirmation on Wednesday (via ); if you re not sure your booking has been submitted successfully we highly recommended you contact the office. Format Our service gives you one full A4 PDF* that you customise with your own text, branding and graphics to meet your needs. The general requirements are as follows: A4 PDF (full colour or black/white) We prefer all advertisements feature the company logo. To optimise online viewing we recommend all pictures within your PDF are at a resolution of 72ppi, the file size should be as low as possible - we suggest 1MB as the maximum size (otherwise it may take too long to download). Please ensure your advertisement meets the above requirements, has been proofed and is ready for insertion BEFORE forwarding to NZPI; failing to do so may result in exclusion from your preferred insertion date. 5 Fee Guideline The fee for your advertisement is determined by the highest level of experience specified in your position description if the level is not specified in your description, it ll be determined by the position level you ve selected under Advertisement Details. See below: Junior: $ Intermediate: $ Senior: $ Highly Experienced and Managers: $ If your advert mentions more than 1 position, you ll be charged an additional fee. Those who wish to advertise several positions should create a General Announcement - see next page for further details. Please Note: All rates outlined in this booklet are NZD, Non-Commission Bearing and GST Inclusive. Insertion Date and Deadline The advert insertion date you provide must fall on a Thursday. We must have your booking form and advertisement by Wednesday 11am adverts received after this deadline may not be advertised until the following week. If the deadline or insertion date falls on a public holiday, you should plan to submit your advert earlier. There are no alerts during the weeks of Christmas or New Years, and other holidays may delay announcements by one day. Advertisements remain on our website from the insertion date until the position closing date (to a maximum one month). If you d like the advert to appear online longer than a month, you ll need to book another insertion. Advert Closing Date Please make sure you've given our members enough time to respond. We recommend that an advert be posted on our website for at least 14 days for maximum effectiveness. Booking Confirmation The official booking confirmation is normally ed on Wednesday; if you re not sure your booking has been submitted successfully, please phone the office on Cancellations If you wish to cancel your booking, you must phone the office on before Wednesday 9am to avoid a cancellation fee of $ Please note: If the advert has already been uploaded you will be invoiced the full amount.

6 Advertising Recruit an Intern FREE NZPI s Situations Vacant service has always allowed free advertisements for interns, but few employers have taken advantage of this service. You can advertise both paid and unpaid positions to current planning students, since our weekly job alerts are sent to all NZPI members, including student members. NZPI receives enquiries from planning students abroad who wish to gain work experience in New Zealand, and this is a great opportunity to enhance your planning staff and help a student meet academic requirements for a planning internship. Planning students in New Zealand often seek part-time paid opportunities to support themselves through university, and this is a great opportunity to find future staff a year or more in advance. We encourage you to take advantage of this free service to help our young planners gain valuable experience. You can only have one intern announcement at any given time. Recruit Part-Time, Fixed Term or Planning Support for only $ This rate applies to all part-time positions of 30 hours or less per week, as long as they do not state that the position may become full-time. In addition, this rate applies to all fixed-term contract positions of one year or less, as long as they do not state that they can become full-time positions or that contracts can be extended for more than one year. You may advertise multiple jobs on the same page for no extra fee, as long as all positions are in a category charged at this same rate. Create a General Announcement for only $ NZPI recognises that many private-sector and central government employers need planners of all types and at all levels to work in locations throughout New Zealand. If you need all types of a variety of planners or planners in many locations, NZPI has created a general announcement category to meet your need. This category is designed for large employers who need to recruit a variety of planning positions in one or several offices and do not wish to be specific with regard to detailed position descriptions. This type of announcement allows employers more space to promote themselves as employers when they wish to identify a broad range of candidates. You may include staff contact names and office locations where positions are available, and you may include a list of positions available. Please note that while you may provide a list of jobs available by title, generic description, or type of planner, you may not provide either summary or detailed position descriptions. For example, your position description may state that planners and senior resource consent planners are needed in Tauranga and Nelson, but you may not identify detailed experience preferred or required for the positions. If you prefer to list one or multiple positions with their position descriptions, please choose one of the other advertising categories.

7 Categories Standard Advertisement Please note that the fees for your advertisement will be based on the highest level of experience or your position description. Recruit a Planner with less than 1 years Experience: $ To be eligible for this category, your position description must specifically target a planner with less than one year of experience. If your advertisement states that you are recruiting a planner with at least one year of planning experience, you will be charged the below rate ($400). You may advertise multiple jobs on the same page for no extra fee, as long as all positions are in a category charged at this same rate. Recruit a Planner with 1-2 years Experience: $ To be eligible for this category, your position description must specifically target a planner requiring between one and two years of professional experience. If your advertisement states that you are recruiting a planner with more than 2 years experience, you will be charged the below rate ($600 for 3-5 years experience or $750 for 6+ years experience). You may advertise up to three jobs on the same page for an additional $200, as long as all positions are in a category charged at the same or lower rate. Recruit a Planner with 3-5 years Experience: $ To be eligible for this category, your position description must specifically target a planner requiring between three and five years of professional experience. If your advertisement states that you are recruiting a planner to work as a project manager or to manage staff in a department, you will be charged the below rate ($750). You may advertise up to three jobs on the same page for an additional $300, as long as all positions are in a category charged at the same or lower rate. Recruit a Planner with 6/+ Years Experience: $ Recruit a highly experienced planner or a manager. If your advertisement states that you are recruiting a planner to work as a project manager, a team leader or to manage staff in a department, you will be charged the rate for planners with six years or more of professional experience. You may advertise up to three jobs or any category on the same page for an additional $400. Add Extra Pages for only $ Do you need more space?
