We have spent the week thanking our staff for all of the great work they do throughout the year. I also want to thank our PTA for also supporting our staff appreciation week by providing some awesome desserts and a great lunch to end the week. Even with our air conditioning not working this week our staff and students continued to focus on learning! Enjoy your weekend! Our next PTA Meeting is Tuesday, May 12 at 6:00 pm in the JPMS media center. The PTA is in need of a parent to serve as either president or vice president for next year. Please consider making this commitment, and even if you are not willing to serve in either of these roles we would love to have you at the next meeting.

2 After-School Activities & Rec Extra Feedback Needed Has your child participated in any of our after-school activities or rec extra programs? If so, we need your feedback. As we work to continue to meet the needs of our students we want to be able to share the stories of you and your children regarding the positive impact the programs have had! We also want to know what we can do better. Please take a moment to complete our survey on our programs and if you have a story you would like to share for us on the positive impact our programs have had on our JPMS students. You can complete the survey online at If you would like to send additional feedback please feel free to send it in, mail or it to Mr. Sinclair (Robert_Sinclair@mcpsmd.org) Program Overview Summer Volunteer Information What: Extended Learning Opportunities Summer Adventures in Learning (ELO SAIL) is a Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) summer school program for kindergar- ten through Grade 2 students at federally funded Title I schools to improve their reading and mathematics skills. Breakfast and lunch are provided for K 2 ELO SAIL students and volunteers under the age of 18 years old. Volunteers work under the supervision of a teacher to provide classroom support and help for K 2 students in reading and mathematics and other activities. When: July 7 July 31, 2015 for 4 hours each weekday Where: 24 federally funded Title I Schools Volunteer Requirements: *Student volunteers must be entering at least 7th grade in Fall *Commit to volunteer for all 19 days of the program How to Apply Application link will be available in late April Volunteer registration is first-come, first served. Contact: Ms. Cynthia Bangali Partnership Manager 850 Hungerford Drive, CESC, Room 142 Rockville, MD Speed and Agility Club Coach Bielry (PHS football coach) and some of his athletes will be starting the Speed and Agility Club on Tuesday, May 12. If you want to improve your footwork, become quicker and stronger this is the

3 place to be. Informational packets along with permission slips can be picked up in the boys and girls locker rooms. You must have your permission slip signed, ECA fee paid and be academically eligible in order to participate. Club will be held on Tuesday and Thursday, May from 2:30-3:50 p.m. Soccer NEWS 2015 Girls Soccer Season Recap The 2015 JPMS girls' soccer finished undefeated for the second consecutive season. The Lady Timberwolves scored an impressive 22 goals in just five games, while only giving up 3 goals. Sarah Mullikin was the leading scorer with 8 goals and Rachel Onderko was the top 7th grader with 6 goals. Sabrina Edwards was next with 5 goals and Alli Haddaway had 4. Overall 13 of the 16 team members scored at least one goal this season. Defensively, Rachel Tievy was huge in goal all season long. Of the three goals scored, two were by the opposing team. The last one was an own goal against Rocky Hill. Sammie Thomas was the stopper on defense. Anything that broke through, she was usually there to clean up. Hannah Helfert was also key in the defensive midfield. Special Thanks to Kalie Terragno and Aly Gotlewski for their help all season long as team managers! Congrats on an outstanding season! The 8th graders leave not having lost a game at JPMS. Their combined total for the two seasons was The tie came last season against Rocky Hill 1-1. The Girls Soccer Team Members are: Sydney Allentuck, Vivian Galentine, Rachel Onderko, Julianna Hitchcock, Sabrina Edwards, Heather Robinson, Celine Macairan, Sarah Mullikin, Alli Haddaway, Sammie Thomas, Begonia Zapata, Hannah Helfert, Kelsey Szafranski, Eleanor Jensen, Rachel Tievy, Casandra Maier The Boys Soccer Team Members are: Patrick O'Connell, Brad Blair, Cole Roy, Ethan Tievy, Darian Berger, Oriol Guitart, Cameron Carney, Zack Fedders, Eamon Murphy, Colin Staszewski, Diego Mejia, Noah Lucas, AJ Poore, Ethan Gaddis, Max Fisher Last Day of School Change Under a plan approved by the Maryland State Superintendent of schools, MCPS will make up one day of instruction that was lost due to inclement weather this school year. Under the approved plan the last day of school will be Monday, June 15, 2015, which will be an early release day. Friday, June 12, 2015, which was originally an early release day is now a full day of school.

Come out and support your fellow students for an amazing show full of dance and singing. We will have concessions for sale to help raise money for future productions. Tickets will be available for reserved seating. For more information and information on how to pre-purchase your tickets please DTurner322@aol.com Attention Current 6 th Grade Parents**New Immunization Requirements** The state of Maryland has changed the mandatory immunization requirements for current 6 th grade students before entering 7 th grade next year. Students are now required to get both the Meningococcal (MCV) and the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis/whooping cough) shots prior to the start of the school year. Once students have had the shots they should submit documentation from their medical provider to the JPMS health room as soon as possible. Students who are NOT in compliance should have received both an automated phone call and a letter.
