2 WHO WE ARE The Law Society of Ireland is the professional, representative and educational body for its 12,000 solicitor lawyer members. The Law Society Education Department carries out the educational function of the Law Society. The Department is the sole provider of vocational education in Ireland for trainee solicitor lawyers, specifically at the pre-qualification stage. The Department is also responsible for postqualification education for solicitor lawyers through the provision of conferences, seminars, workshops and certified Certificates, Diplomas and Masters Awards, all of which are managed and delivered by Law Society Professional Training division. (LSPT) On an international level, LSPT designs and delivers training in collaboration with many international partners including the Academy of European Law (ERA), the American Bar Association (ABA) and European Bars.
