Dear Parents, Thank you to the wonderful parents who have volunteered to help in the school uniform shop. We had a great response and have people that are prepared to help on a standby basis. On a more permanent basis, I have great pleasure in announcing the Mrs Chloe Jacquin will be our new Uniform Shop Administrator. She will assist Mrs Nicole Jaschinsky, who remains our Senior Uniform Shop Administrator. Thank you to all involved!

2 A wonderful day was held yesterday and all of the children performed admirably in the school faction cross country morning. What pleased me the most were the number of children that challenged themselves to do their personal best. We were also extremely lucky that the weather held out and an enjoyable morning was had by all. A special mention is given to Mrs Peacham for her superb co-ordination of this event. Congratulations to all of the medal winners and to all of those parents who braved the cold to offer their support to the students. FACEBOOK TO EMPLOY OR NOT EMPLOY I was reading an article in a journal where a senior manager of a fashion magazine had to decide which applicant to employ for an advertised position. In her words, all of the applications had wonderful, professionally prepared CV s and experience. She decided to go onto the final 5 s Facebook page in an effort to help her decide whom to employ. Much to her amazement she found a number of applicants had inappropriate language, risqué photos and images that were not becoming to the company s policy and image. Surprisingly, she found only one of the applicants had a Facebook page that she would consider appropriate and hence she was the successful applicant. Why is this important? It was revealed that one of the applicants kept photos and comments on her Facebook page from secondary school and hence, even though she had left the school some time earlier, the images and text can be around for a lot longer? This is something for all families to consider. PUPIL FREE DAY Monday 29 th June, 2015 TEACHER INTERVIEWS ALL DAY A reminder to all families that Monday 29 th June is a Pupil Free Day. The aim of this day is a result from past parent surveys, whereby parents have asked for parent/teacher report interviews, during the day and in the evening. This whole day has been set aside for parents to be able to come in and have a parent/teacher interview during the day. (There will be limited appointments after school and in the evening set aside, for parents who work). Timesheets will be placed on your child s classroom door on Wednesday 24 th June, the same day that school reports are sent home, and it is the parent s responsibility to book the times that they would like to see their child s classroom teacher. First in first served. (If you have seen your child s classroom teacher recently, you are not expected to arrange another interview.) I also ask that if you have a specific concern about an area of your child s progress that you let the teacher know before the interview. We appreciate your efforts in this area. PRE-PRIMARY PARENT INTERVIEWS - PUPIL FREE DAY Monday 29 th June, 2015 If any parent of a child in Pre-Primary would like to speak to the Pre-Primary teachers as to the progress of their child they have kindly offered to have parent interviews on the same day as the school reports interviews. Parent Interviews will be held on Monday 29 th June. This time has been set aside for parents/guardians to come in for an interview. I also ask that if you have a specific concern about an area of your child s progress that you let your child s teacher know before the interview. Concert begins 6.30pm. This is a free event to be held in IMCC Library. Showcasing ensembles Swing Band, Barbershop Ensemble, Jazz Band, Flute Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Brass Ensemble. Year 11/12 Soloists Catholic Performing Arts pieces. Refreshments and snacks available for purchase on the night.

5 Cyber Safety & Musica viva The Year Fours have had an exciting and busy few weeks! In Week 7, Four Blue attended an informative Cyber Safety excursion at the Clarkson Library. In Week 8, they were entertained by the Musica Viva group, Akoustic Odyssey. Four Blue would like to share some things that they learnt and enjoyed at the excursion and musical performance. I learnt to never share personal information online with people I don t know. Abbey I was reminded that I should not go on the computer when I don t have permission. Shaye It is important to never be afraid to tell your parents what happened on the laptop. Orlando I now know that you don t give your name, address and pictures out online. Indigo I learnt that I shouldn t share my street name online. Chiara I thought that the Constable Care people asked lots of good questions about cyber safety. Dylan I learnt that I shouldn t include my gender and age in my screen name. Storm I learnt to never arrange to meet up with someone that you talk to online. Devlin I found the book Chicken Clicking interesting because I had never read it before. Angus I now know to tell a trusted adult if something feels wrong. Hannah I enjoyed it when we watched the Constable Care performance and they asked questions. Jaylin I learnt to tell my mum and dad what I have been doing online. Jaqueline The Chicken Clicking book taught me not to buy things without permission. Joyce I learnt how much time we should spend on a device and how much time we should spend playing outside. Matilda Akoustic Odyssey has inspired me to play in a band later in life. Emma I really liked the violin because it made the seagull noises during the song. Eleanor I really enjoyed watching the man play bass guitar. Noah I learnt that you can play bass guitar with a bow. Heath Akoustic Odyssey inspired me to practise my guitar playing more often. Jesse I loved it when I got to play with the shakers. Jessica While playing, Triremes, they told us to close our eyes and imagine what was happening. Aiden It was exciting when they let people play with musical instruments. Jhett Akoustic Odyssey has inspired me to learn how to play the bass guitar. Brandon I learnt a new instrument, the kulap shakers. Zac Musica Viva has inspired me to play the violin. Mahlia I loved it when Mary did her incredible belly dancing. Ajak I can t wait to listen to more of Akoustic Odyssey s songs. Lachlan
