3 Business Plan Introduction Safer London s business planning cycle is designed to serve as a strategic and operational blueprint for the organisation s trustees, management and frontline staff, clients and stakeholders. The plan consists of five strategies that detail the aims and actions to achieve and sustain the organisation s Overarching Business Ambitions. These strategies focus on What We Do, How We Fund It, How We Promote It, How We Resource It, and How We Involve. Overarching Ambitions Strengthen our position in London by providing effective, innovative and sustainable services. Nurture a solid foundation for development and expansion. Cultivate brand awareness and recognition as a leading provider in the sector. Embed systems and processes to define and guide the functioning of the organisation at every level. Involve young people and communities in the design, development and delivery of our services. 3
4 Five Strategies: Key Aims Detailed below are the key aims contained within each strategy. The strategies, which are included as appendices in the Full Business Plan document, contain the actions to achieve these aims, setting out timescales and lines of accountability. The strategies are reviewed and updated annually in February by the Senior Management Team and signed off by the Board of Directors in April. What We Do 1. Design and deliver services that are underpinned by evidence based approaches that demonstrate impact and value for money. 2. Deliver all contracts on time and within budget, with all targets met. How We Fund It 1. Maintain existing levels of funding and achieve an additional 150k in general reserves each year. 2. Define parameters for new business and expansion each year, underpinned by evidence of need and capacity of organisation to deliver and sustain growth. How We Promote It 1. Promote the organisation as a leader of innovation and good practice in the sector. 2. Create distinct branding and consistent language to promote the scope of support offered by the organisation. 3. Promote the organisation to young people, families and professionals to increase awareness of services available to them and how to access them. 4. Embed clear and consistent communication processes within the organisation, providing regular opportunities for staff feedback and sharing of good practice. 4
5 How We Resource It 1. Utilise robust, transparent user friendly financial systems and standard operating processes to guide decision making in each function of the organisation. 2. Recruit and retain committed, innovative employees. 3. Promote a culture of continuing professional development via training, sector updates and events, and performance management. 4. Embed quality assurance systems in each function of the organisation to ensure accountability and consistency. How We Involve 1. Involve young people in the design, development and delivery and of services, including volunteer and staff recruitment. 2. Offer formal volunteering opportunities for young people, professionals and local community members. 3. Offer a pathway to employment for volunteers and students within the organisation. 5
