2 Welcome to the Festival Chairman s Welcome 2016 At this festive time of year I am delighted to support the Beverley Festival of Christmas and look forward to sampling the magnificent local produce and crafts on offer. It is also a pleasure to see the effort that goes into the event, especially the traditional Victorian costume and street entertainers which makes the festival really stand out from the rest. I would like to thank East Yorkshire Events and the festival committee for delivering such a wonderful occasion, and congratulate them on their dedication and hard work making the day such a joyous occasion. The Beverley Festival of Christmas always proves a hugely popular event, attracting visitors into our beautiful historic market town of Beverley from all over the UK. It is a great opportunity to showcase the best that the town and the East Riding of Yorkshire have to offer. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Councillor John Dennis Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council John Bird Honorary Festival Chairman The Beverley Festival of Christmas is now firmly established as one of the favourite events in the local Christmas Calendar. It is arguably the biggest one day festival of its kind in the UK with more than 120 stalls and many attractions. I am sure that you will enjoy the day and I wish you all a very happy and healthy Christmas.

3 St Mary s Church 11.00am 4.00pm As part of our expansion of the festival in to the stunning Georgian Quarter, St Mary s will be open from late morning, with musical entertainment during the day. There will be lots of exciting activities in the church, including arts and crafts for children; face painting, stalls and the hidden Priests Rooms will be open throughout the day for tours. Food and drink will be available and the church will be serving tea and coffee, as well as festive mince pies. The crypt will be turned into a nativity scene and children are invited to dress up; so if your little one didn t land the part of Mary in the school play this will be her chance! Remember to bring your cameras. At 3.00pm there will be a special advent carol service featuring the Church Lads and Girls Brigade brass band. Guildhall 10.30am 3.00pm The Guildhall is open with free admission. Take time away from busy streets to relax with a tea or coffee in the elegant surroundings of The Parlour whilst the children enjoy Victorian themed activities in the beautiful courtroom. beverley-guildhall Toll Gavel United Church 10.30am 3.00pm Toll Gavel opens from 10.30am with festive musical entertainment throughout the day. There will be performances from Dave and Joan Hill, Beverley Community Choir, John Brien (Pianist), Beverley U3A Choir & Beverley Male Voice Choir. The Church will also be serving tea, coffee and festive mince pies. Treasure House The Treasure House Museum and Beverley Art Gallery will be open throughout the festival. As well as that, the Treasure House Coffee Lounge will be serving delicious hot drinks and snacks as well as a range of scrumptious Christmas fayre from 10.00am-3.00pm. Christmas Crafts Family Drop-in 10.00am 3.00pm (Free entry) Bring the children along to the Education Room to make festive decorations and gifts for friends and family. Suitable for children of all ages, must be accompanied by an adult. Beverley Minster Christmas Tree Festival Friday 9th Sunday 11th December EY Events have once again teamed up with Beverley Minster to bring the Minster Christmas Tree Festival back for December With over 80+ trees this year, each and every one is decorated and sponsored by either a community organisation, local or national company. Visitors can vote for their favourite tree, with a small prize for the winner. Refreshments are also available with soup, sandwiches and cakes. Plus a cooked lunch is available on the Sunday (with vegetarian option).

4 Flemingate North Bar Flemingate brings fashion, food and film close to East Yorkshire s historic heart and will be hosting even more of our Traditional Victorian Christmas Market Stalls, integrated with the big brand names that the shopping centre is well known for. Just a 1 minute walk from the Minster, and close to our Christmas Stalls in Wednesday Market, Flemingate is the perfect place to start the day with 500 parking spaces on offer. The festivities will be taking over Flemingate, with plenty of family friendly entertainment throughout the day, plus what s Christmas without Santa? He s a very busy man at this time of year so a visit to the only magical Grotto in town is a must! Our Victorian Christmas Market is expanding down the picturesque North Bar Within, one of Beverley s most stunning shopping areas, overlooked by St Mary s Church and the 15th century North Bar. As part of the Beverley Festival of Christmas, our Victorian Christmas Market is expanding with stalls selling a range of festive stocking fillers and treats. From food and drink, to jewellery, and clothing, a variety of stalls will be nestled within the Georgian Quarter Shops. There s plenty of entertainment in this architecturally fascinating area of Beverley too. Get hands on experience with the Birds of Prey in Coronation Gardens whilst enjoying a soundtrack of local artists curated by The Westwood Sessions. Saturday Market The cobbled streets of Beverley s historic Saturday Market will be brimming with festive cheer; our Victorian Christmas Market will take over the main market place with a range of stalls selling local produce and festive gifts. To view our stallholder directory please head to our website At 10.00am, the Parade arrives from Wednesday Market. Watch the reindeers pull Santa and his sleigh in to the square. Make sure you get close and take pictures before they head back to Lapland to get ready for the big day. There s so much to keep the kids entertained with Face Painting and Traditional Victorian Fairground rides, plus plenty of live music and dance to sound-track the Saturday Market. Wednesday Market Wednesday Market is where the Beverley Festival of Christmas begins, watch our Christmas Parade set-off and head through Toll Gavel to Saturday Market. Can you spot Santa being pulled by his reindeer? Or some of the all-star cast from Bridlington Spa s Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs pantomime? Once the parade has passed, the Victorian Christmas Market is open with food, drink, arts, crafts, festive gifts and more, all accompanied by live music and entertainment.
