2 Dear participants, We are pleased to be able to invite you to the 5 th meeting of BioLink. Supported by the COST foundation, the Action is now in its third year with a network of more than 200 participants and contributors. As always, the meeting is open to all and we hope to attract and entice new scientists (young but also the not so young ) to join us at the meeting to exchange ideas, set up collaborations and enjoy lively discussions on biodiversity in the soil but also elsewhere. The meeting will start on Monday 24 th October at 16:00 with registration and poster session and finish on Wednesday evening with a tour of the old city and a conference dinner. Thus, aim to arrive on Monday afternoon and depart on Thursday morning. We will meet in Pruhonice, a small town South-East of Prague famous for its castle surrounded by splendid botanical gardens. The town is within easy reach of Prague, travel instructions are provided with this announcement. Following the format of earlier BioLink meetings, the meeting will feature several invited speakers, offered talks, work group discussions and poster sessions. To register, please use the registration form included with this call. Do register as soon as possible and no later than 29th September 2016 for guaranteed accommodation. The venue is located about 40 minutes from Prague city centre by public transport. Airport transfers (Václav Havel Prague Ruzyně) Minibus transport to and from the venue can be arranged by the organisers. Please do indicate dates and times of arrival and departure when registering for the meeting, we will provide participants with information on minicab sharing. The cost should be up to 10 one way, depending on the number of persons. Deadlines: 16 th September - Early bird registration 29 th September - Last registration with pre-booked rooms 29 th September - Abstract submission 6 th October - Abstract confirmation and final programme announcement All registration and meeting information will be made available on Accommodation We have pre-booked accommodation at or in the immediate vicinity of the meeting venue. This is available to participants who register and pay the conference fee prior to the 29 th September deadline. Single (50 EUR per night) and double (30 EUR per night, shared basis) rooms in hotels within 5 min walk from conference venue are available. Please indicate your accommodation requirement on the registration form. We cannot guarantee accommodation after 29 th September at discounted prices, although rooms may be available. 4

6 Instructions for Abstract Submission To submit an abstract please follow this procedure and make use of the template on next page. The abstracts should be in English and provide a synthetic report. The use of acronyms, symbols or bullets should be avoided where possible. A maximum of 2000 characters (including spaces) is allowed, single-spaced in 12 point type Arial. Abstracts must be submitted by 29 th September, and sent as an attachment to: Radek Plch, plch.r@czechglobe.cz. In the message, please indicate your preference as below: Oral presentation: Poster presentation A final decision on the format of presentation (i.e. poster or oral) will be taken by the Organizing Committee and announced by 6th October. 6
