1 EOC Assessment Outline Course Name: M/J Comprehensive - Grades 7/8 Course Number: Test : 40 PE.8.M.1.3 Demonstrate body management for successful participation in a variety of modified games and Students will identify skill-related fitness components: speed, balance, agility, etc. Students will know the benefits of warm ups and cool downs, and how they relate to successful performance. Content Limits may ask students to identify skill-related fitness components (speed, balance, agility, etc.). may require students to know why stretching and warming up help with performance and injury prevention. PE.7.M.1.2 Use basic offensive and defensive strategies while playing modified versions of a variety of sports and Students will be able to identify multiple strategies on offense/defense. Students will be able to adjust offensive or defensive strategy based upon the strategy being used by their opponent or opposing team. Content Limits may ask students to distinguish between basic offensive/defensive strategies in basketball, soccer, flag football, etc. may ask students to apply offensive/defensive strategies to a game situation.
2 PE.8.L.3.1 Participate in moderate physical activity on a daily basis Students will know how daily activity promotes a healthy lifestyle. Students will know the benefits of an active lifestyle (improved cardio, muscular strength/endurance, flexibility). Content Limits may require students to know the difference between light, moderate, and heavy activity. may require students to be able to identify activities of different levels of intensity. PE.8.L.3.3 Participate in a variety of individual/dual and alternative/extreme sport activities that promote health-related components of fitness Students will be able to identify physical activities and their health benefits. PE.8.L.4.5 Identify health-related problems associated with low levels of cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition Students will understand the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle. Students will recognize health-related problems that correlate with a lack of physical activity and bad nutrition. Content Limits may require students to know different types of illnesses that correlate with a lack of physical activity. may require students to know the relationship between body composition, nutrition, and exercise.

Students will know how/where to position themselves for the appropriate situation (offense, defense, catching, throwing, etc.). Content Limits may require students to know the concept of staying between the opponent and the goal in soccer and basketball. may require students to know how to position themselves to intercept/steal a pass. may require students to know how to analyze offensive/defensive strategies to adjust their positioning. PE.8.C.2.6 Identify the critical elements for successful performance in a variety of sport skills or physical Students will identify elements that are critical for successful performance (e.g., sport-specific skills/techniques, strategy and game planning, HRF/SRF). Content Limits may require students to know that stamina is vital to many sports including soccer, basketball, and football. may require students to know that hand-eye coordination is an important part of all catching, throwing, and striking may require students to differentiate the HRF/SRF components needed for distance running and sprints.

Students will know how to use safety equipment properly. Students will understand the safety procedures associated with different types of Content Limits may include knowledge of how using safety equipment helps prevent injuries. may require students to know that not following safety procedures can lead to injuries for themselves and others. PE.7.C.2.9 Describe how movement skills learned in one physical activity can be transferred and used in other physical Students will compare and contrast different skills in a variety of activities (team and individual sports). Students will recognize the correlation between skills from different sports. Content Limits may require students to know that blocking in volleyball correlates with blocking in basketball. may require students to know the difference between dribbling in soccer and in basketball. may require students to know the relationship between striking with a racquet and a bat.
8 PE.7.M.1.6 Demonstrate the critical elements in specialized skills related to a variety of sports or outdoor pursuits Students will know how to adjust techniques for a desired outcome (i.e. squeeze bunt, touch pass, bumping, bank shot, penalty kick, opposite field hitting). Content Limits may require students to know how striking a soccer ball in different spots/angles and different parts of the foot will affect the flight. may require students to know how to adjust a forearm pass to change the direction of the ball. may require students to know how top/back spin is created and how it affects the flight of a tennis ball. may require students to know how and why the crossover dribble is used in basketball.
