1 W Trek Torres Del Paine Torres Del Paine National Park Chile 4 Days Explore South America s finest national park. This 4 day / 3 night guided trek will take you on trails to the magnificent Grey s Glacier, through the imposing French Valley to view the mighty granite pillars of Los Torres. Hike through emerald forests, to magnificent glaciers, along alpine rivers and lakes, with picturesque mountain vistas while in this area of unparalleled beauty. Accommodation is in comfortable hiking refuges with all meals and bedding included. ITINERARY Day 1. LOS TORRES HIKE Early morning transfer by regular bus from Puerto Natales to Torres Del Paine National Park. Upon arrival at Laguna Armarga you will be met and transferred to Hotel Las Torres from where you will begin your trek to the base of Los Torres. The first hour and a half is uphill with fantastic views of Lake Nordenskjöld and Almirante Nieto Mountain, with its hanging glacier, before flattening off you reach Refugio El Chileno. Then the trail continues up through Lenga forest (1 hour) until the base of the moraine from where a challenging ascent (45 min), will take you to one of the most impressive places in the park: the lookout of the Base of Torres del Paine where you will enjoy the view of Torre Sur (2,850 m.s.n.m.), Torre Central (2.800 m.s.n.m), Torre Norte (2.600 m.s.n.m) and Cerro Nido de Cóndor. 2 Day 2. TREKKING TO LOS CUERNOS Today the trail goes west along the base of the Almirante Nieto Mountain and provides great views to Nordenskjöld Lake. After about 4 5 hours you will get to the Base of Los Cuernos where our Refugio is located. This area is considered by many, one of the most charming sites in the whole park. Refugio Los Cuernos Breakfast, boxed lunch, dinner Medium Approx 4-5 hours Day 3. VALLE FRANCES (FRENCH VALLEY) This morning we continue on our trek. The first 2 hours are up and down with views of Lake Nordenskjöld. Upon arriving at Campamento Italiano you will begin to ascend for about 1 hour and a half until Paine Grande lookout, where you ll be able to observe its hanging glacier with opportunities to observe small avalanches. The trail then continues until Campamento Británico and after about 20 minutes you will reach the lookout point considered by many as one of the most overwhelming spots in the Circuit: Mirador Valle del Francés, where you will admire: Paine Grande, Cerro Hoja, Cerro Máscara, Cerro Catedral, Cerro Aleta de Tiburón, Cuerno Norte and other magnificent peaks. The return is the same way back to Campamento Italiano and then on to Lodge Paine Grande. Lodge Paine Grande Breakfast, boxed lunch, dinner Difficult Approx 9-11 hours Day 4. GREY S GLACIER The trail goes through the western side of the Paine Massif with views to the Grey Lake and mountains. After 1 hour and a half you will reach the first lookout point, where you may observe Grey s Glacier in the distance. The next hour and a half is through a Lenga (beech) forest until the

3 main lookout, just in front of the glacier. The return is the same way back until Pehoé Lake in time to take the catamaran that departs at 18.30pm and arrives to the Pudeto sector at 7.00pm, where your regular bus will be waiting to take you back to Puerto Natales (arrival time to Puerto Natales: around 9.00 pm). 4 INSURANCE It is highly recommended that you take out your travel insurance at the time of booking as your cover for pre-departure cancellation will commence from the date your policy is issued. This means that should you have to cancel your travel arrangements for any insured reason you may be able to claim back losses. This is subject to the standard terms and conditions of your policy. You should ensure that the insurance provides you with cover against the financial collapse of all parties involved in providing services on your behalf during your travel/holiday (i.e airlines) and that it will protect you against medical expenses arising from sickness or injury during your travel, loss of deposit and protect you against loss of or damage to your belongings. US, Australian & Canadian tourist or business visitors must pay the reciprocity rates (USD$160 for Americans, Australia USD$100, Canada USD$75 single entry) with their credit card through the on-line system. Cash payments will NOT be accepted at the airports. How to pay the reciprocity fee on-line: 1) Enter the web site or of Provincia Pagos and register to start the process. 2) Complete the form with the corresponding personal and credit card information. 3) Print the payment receipt. 4) On arrival in Argentina, this printed receipt must be presented at Immigration Control. The receipt will be scanned by the Immigration officials, the information will be checked, and the

5 traveler s entry to the country registered. RECIPROCITY FEE FOR U.S./AUSTRALIA/CANADA TOURIST OR BUSINESS VISITORS ENTERING CHILE Important note: nationals of Australia, Canada and USA entering Chile for touristic purposes, are charged a processing fee on arrival at the airport. This is payable in $US cash or by credit card. Chile (Santiago) = Australia US$100, Canada and USA US$132. Passports - You will need at least 1 blank page per country in your passport, which must be valid for at least 6 to 9 months after your trip finishes (for more information check the FCO advice for each country under "entry requirements"). If you have dual nationality you can only use one passport for the entire trip. Immigration Cards - On arrival to countries in South America, you will be given an Immigration card. It is important that you keep this with your passport during your entire stay in the particular country as it is needed for departure. Failure to produce this immigration slip can result in a fine. For those flying with a USA airline and transiting through the USA - PLEASE READ: Updated USA visa information in effect as of 12 January The US government has announced that as of 12 Jan 09 a new online system known as Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) that is part of the visa waiver programme (VWP) is mandatory. To apply for authorization to travel to or via the US (even on transit) under the VWP, travellers will have to log on to the ESTA web based system and complete an application online providing iographical and eligibility binformation. In most cases, ESTA will provide an almost immediate determination of eligibility to travel under the VWP. If your country does not appear on the Visa Waiver Program list below, you will need to apply for a visa to the US before flying out to join your tour.
