3 Installing AudibleAir/Player The simplest way to install AudibleAir/Player on your pocket pc is by using the Audible OTA (Over-The-Air) Installation page. To access the Audible OTA Installation page: 1. Go to the Start menu and open the Internet Explorer browser. 2. Type the following address into the address bar: download.audible.com/audibleair/ota.htm 3. Once you ve reached the Audible OTA page, select the PocketPC and Smartphones link from the list. 4. On the next page, select the operating system that corresponds to your device (PocketPC 2002 or Pocket 2003 and WM5) and the installation will begin. Notes: Windows Mobile 6 users should select the Pocket 2003 and WM5 link. If you are unsure as to which Windows Mobile operating system is installed on your device, go to Start -> Settings -> System -> About. 3

4 Using AudiblePlayer Launching Audible Player To launch the Audible Player software on your device, go to Start > Programs > Audible Player. When Audible Player launches, you will come to the main playback screen. On this screen, you will see all of your basic playback functions. Let's start by becoming familiar with the buttons. 4

5 A. Button Functions 1. Repeat Section - When you press this button, you will be transferred to the beginning of the section that you are currently listening to. 2. Volume Up - This raises the Volume of Playback. 3. Library - By pressing this button, the screen will change to display a list of titles that you currently have available on your device. You can choose the title you wish to play from this menu. 5

6 A. Button Functions (cont d) 4. Rewind - Using the rewind button will allow you to scroll back through the title. Tapping this button will move you backwards by 1 second. Holding this button down will quickly move you backwards through the title. 5. Play - Press this button to begin playing the title. Once a title begins to play, this button will become a Pause button, which is used to stop the title at the current location. 6. Fast Forward - Using the fast forward button will allow you to scroll forward through the title. Tapping this button will move you forward by 1 second. Holding this button down will quickly move you forward through the title. 7. Previous Section - This button allows you to skip back to the previous section of a title. Not all titles are broken into sections. Titles that are divided into section will display a "S" on the left of the elapsed time window. 8. Volume Down - This Decreases the Volume of Playback. 9. Next Section - This button allows you to skip ahead to the next section of a title. Not all titles are broken into sections. Titles that are divided into section will display a "S" on the left of the elapsed time window. 6

7 B. Playback 1. To play a title, click on the My Library button to view the titles that you have available on your device. 2. Select the title you wish to play from the list. 3. Press the Listen to begin playback. Note: Press the Delete button in the upper right to delete a title. 7

8 C. Book Marking Audible Player allows the book marking of titles. This means that you can mark a spot in the title, and refer back to that spot at any time. To set a bookmark in Audible Player: 1. Play the title until you reach the location you wish to place the bookmark. 2. Press Menu at the bottom of the screen. 3. Select Bookmarks and choose Add Bookmark. 8

9 C. Book Marking (cont d) To retrieve a bookmark in Audible Player: 1. Select the title that you wish to resume. 2. Press Menu at the bottom of the screen. 3. Select Bookmarks and choose the bookmark that you have created 9

10 D. Backlight Audible Player has a power conservation option which allows you to configure the backlight. You can keep the backlight of your device on while listening to a book, or change the configuration to turn off the backlight after a period of time while a title is playing. To edit the power setting for the backlight within Audible Player: 1. Press Menu at the bottom of the screen, and choose Preferences. 2. On the Preferences menu, you have 2 options; To keep the backlight on, or to have the backlight turn off. 3. Select your option by clicking the circle to the left, then click ok on the bottom left. Note: (You may also manually adjust the volume from this menu). 10

11 Using AudibleAir Launching AudibleAir If AudiblePlayer is already open, you may launch AudibleAir by from the Menu in the bottom right. If AudiblePlayer is not open, go to Start -> Programs and click on the AudibleAir icon. 11

12 Logging in to AudibleAir When you initially open AudibleAir, you will be taken to the Audible Login screen. Enter your username and password and click OK. AudibleAir Library Once you are logged My Library will begin to load. You can choose between Books and Subscriptions by pressing their corresponding tabs in the bottom left. 12

13 Managing Books in AudibleAir Sort - In the Books section of your library, you may sort your titles by Author, Title, Time, and Date by pressing the Sort menu in the upper left. Filter -You may also use the Filter menu in the upper right to filter the books you want to view by New, Heard, Archive, or All. Download - After you have located the book you want to download, press the orange download button, which will take you to the Download screen. 13

14 Managing Books in AudibleAir The Download screen allows you to change the following settings prior to downloading your title: Download Length Starting Position Format Storage Location To start the download, press OK once you re done selecting your options. Download Options To access the Download Options menu, highlight a title and go to Menu-> Options from your library. You will be provided with the option to automatically download a segment of the selected book at the time interval of your choice. To do so, place a check in Use Book Refresh checkbox. Then choose your daily Refresh Time and click OK. 14

15 Managing Subscriptions in AudibleAir Downloading an Issue To download a particular issue of a subscription: 1. Select the subscription from the list in your library. 2. Press the Issues button. 3. Select an issue from the list. 4. Press the Download Button 15

16 Managing Subscriptions in AudibleAir Scheduling a Subscription To schedule a subscription for automatic downloading: 1. Select the Subscription from the list in your library. 2. Press the Schedule button. 3. Place a check in the Auto Download New Issues checkbox. (You may also choose the format, storage location, and how many issues you d like to keep stored on your device (or storage card) at one time.) 4. Click OK. Your subscription will now automatically download each new issue as soon as it is available. 16
