Storing and sharing your content Personal Cloud stores and organizes your digital files, and you can easily share these files on any Smartphone, tablet, PC or Mac computers. You can easily share a single file or whole folders with friends and family, and have access to your Personal Cloud anywhere and anytime. Search and filter options make sure that files can be searched and filtered by name, status, file type, date or period, or in combinations of these. With Personal Cloud, you have the place for all your content. Getting started After you have installed the application, you need to set it up. Note: Make sure that your system clock is set to the current date and time; otherwise you may not be able to log in correctly. To set up the application: 1. Read the license terms carefully, and click I accept license terms. 2. In the Login window, enter your address and password, and click Log in. The Welcome window opens. 3. Click Skip tour. The Device settings window opens. 4. In the Name this device screen, enter the name for the device and click Next. 5. In the Set up automatic backup screen, select the folders that you want to back up, and click Next. Note: The application folder is always backed up. 6. Check your settings, and click Finish. 7. Leave the application open to back up the selected content. You have now set up the application for this device. How to use the application With Personal Cloud, you can synchronize, view, download, and play your files. You can also share you content by or publish it in social networks. Managing your content Clicking the Personal Cloud icon on the system menu bar opens the application menu that shows the following information: Status - When you are logged out provides a description of the connection status, otherwise shows the backup status ("Creating backup", "Backup complete", "Backup paused"). Open... - Opens the application. Open Sync folder - Opens the synchronization folder the content of which is automatically synchronized across all connected devices. Pause backup - Pauses and resumes the backup operations. 2
Buy more space - Shows a link to a page where you can buy more quota or update your subscription. About - Opens a window that provides information about the application, such as version number, copyright, and user name. Note: The information provided in the About window is useful when you contact Customer Care for technical assistance. Quit - Closes the application Adding content manually You can add files to the cloud using the Add to Sync option. The files that you add manually using the Add to Sync option are stored in the Sync folder and included in the automatic backup. You can add multiple files or folders to the cloud at the same time. The selected content is queued and transferred in the background. Note: Your device needs to have a working Internet connection to add files. To add content manually: 1. Click Add to Sync in the Action menu bar to add content to the Sync folder. 2. Select the files or folders that you want to add. The selected files or folders are copied to the Sync folder and automatically synchronized. You can access the synchronized files and folders with all your connected devices. Note: Synchronized files have visual indicators that show their status: A blue icon indicates that file is currently being transferred. A green icon indicates that file is synchronized. A red icon indicates that file synchronization failed. You can view the visual indicators of all the files that have been added to the cloud even if they are not in an automatically synchronized folder or in the root directory. Renaming files You can rename files one by one. To rename a file: 1. Right-click the application icon and select Open Sync folder. The Open Sync folder opens in Windows Explorer. 2. Enter a new name for the file that you want to rename. The file is renamed. The renamed file is synchronized across all the connected devices. Moving files to Trash When you delete a file through the application, or through the operating system, it is moved to the Trash in the cloud. 3
The files that you have moved to the Trash take up storage space affecting your quota until you empty your Trash. Note: If you move to the Trash a file that is included in a folder selected for automatic backup, the file is removed from the cloud. However, it still exists in its original location on the device. If you make any changes to the file, it will be added to the cloud again. To move files to the Trash: 1. Select the files that you want to delete. Note: To clear your selection, click Clear at the top left corner. 2. From the More menu, select Move to Trash. 3. In the confirmation dialog that opens, click Yes to confirm moving the files to the Trash. You can view and retrieve files that were moved to the Trash in the cloud by going to the Trash in the web application. Downloading files When you select the download action, the selected file (the original file, not a preview) is transferred from your Personal Cloud to the local device. You can download files to your computer, tablet or mobile device. The downloaded file is transferred to the local storage. To download files: 1. In the Home view, select the files that you want to download. Note: To clear your selection, click Clear at the top left corner. 2. From the More menu, select Download. 3. In the window that opens, do one of the following: - Accept the default location for downloading the content and click Download. - Click Change to select another location, and then click Download. The files are downloaded to the specified location. Restoring files on desktop applications You can restore the content on your desktop using the download action. If you, for example, have lost your Mac computer, you want to restore the content on the lost computer to your Windows computer. To restore files: 1. On your desktop application, select the device from which you want to restore the content. 2. From the More menu, select Download. The Downloading files dialog opens. 3. Select the target folder for restoring the selected content, and click Download. Note: If there is not enough disk space, you must select another location or less files to restore your content. 4. When the download is complete, click View files... to see the restored content. 4
A dialog box opens showing the downloading process. You can stop the restore operation, if needed. Viewing statistics The application shows information about your subscription, used space, and backed up files. When you click the Cloud icon or the application menu at the top, you can see the following information: Total- the total amount of space that you have on your account Used - the total size of the files that you have already backed up In Trash - the total size of files in the trash Free - the amount of space available for backing up your files Backup settings - shows the automatic backup settings which you can change Buy more space - will direct you to the Personal Cloud web page where you can inquire about purchasing more space if needed Automatic backup Automatic backup copies content from your device to the cloud. The files are copied based on the file location, content, or both. Note: The Sync folder, which stores all the files that you manually add through the application, is automatically included in the backup. Automatic backup supports the following content types: Documents - the "My Documents" or "Documents" folder or library in your home folder. Music - the default music folder or library on the computer (for example, My Music or Music ). Pictures - the default image folder or library on the computer (for example, My Pictures or Pictures ). Videos - the default video folder or library on the computer (for example, My Videos or Videos ). The application provides the following additional backup categories: Desktop - the files in your Desktop folder. User-selected files and folders - folders that you have selected to back up. Note: You can change the content types that you want to back up at any time. Using automatic backup Automatic backup is turned on when you select a content type or at least one file when setting up the backup. Note: The Sync folder, which stores all the files that you manually add through the application, is automatically included in the backup. 5
Personal Cloud application backs up the whole content of a folder or library, including all the files, subfolders, and files that are in the subfolders. Some system or hidden files that contain metadata are also included in the backup. The files are added in random order, and in practice, there is no maximum file size or limit to the number of files that can be added. The only limit is the available storage space on your account. The speed and duration of transferring files depends on the file size, network use, and available resources on the host operating system. If you add a large number of files or a large amount of data, it may slow down your device. The first-time synchronization, which occurs when you log in for the first time, can take some time. The Settings window shows you how many folders and files you have selected to be backed up. It also shows what is the estimated space that is required to back up the selected content, and the estimated amount of used space on your account. You can see the backup status on the status bar of the main application area, as well as in the main application menu. The backed up content of each of your devices is visible on all other connected devices. Backup rules The Personal Cloud application detects common file formats in the previously listed content types. When automatic backup is turned on and you have selected the content to back up, the application automatically backs up the files in the background. All changes to the backed up files are synchronized to the cloud immediately. Note: You can only select folders from your home directory. Changing backup settings You can change the backup settings through the Backup settings view. To change the settings: 1. Click the icon. 2. The Backup settings window shows the total size and number of files for each content type. Change the backup settings as needed. If you remove a content type, the content that is already backed up is moved to the Trash in the cloud until you empty your Trash. Synchronizing files between devices The Personal Cloud application synchronizes files automatically and transparently between multiple devices. In the desktop applications, all files that you add to the Sync folder are automatically synchronized to all connected devices. In the mobile applications, files that you add to the Sync folder are synchronized across you 6
connected devices. if you have an Internet connection, you can see the synchronized files in the cloud and download them to your device. Note: Files are synchronized on the devices that have the application running. If the application is not running on a device, files are synchronized when you log in to the application. Note: You may not be able to view all files on every device. The ability to open a file type depends on the operating system in use and the applications installed on the device. Synchronization rules and conflict resolution Synchronization is based on version control. When multiple or successive files with the same name and location are transferred to the cloud, only the file that was last changed is stored and made available. As the application supports multiple devices and platforms, character and encoding restrictions on different platforms mean that the above rule does not always apply. In such cases, an additional file is created both locally on the device and in the cloud. An extension "conflict" is added to the name of the additional file, which indicates a conflict state. Note: This behavior is also used to handle unexpected synchronization conflicts. Using the application offline You can use the application even when you have no network connection. When your device is offline, you can access the content that has been added from that device or that has been stored in the Sync folder. You can view or edit that content in offline mode. When your device is back online, the changes you made to the files are synchronized to the cloud and the changed files are updated on the original location. When your device is offline, you cannot: share files by or on social media services, mark files as favorites, back up files to the cloud, access your sharing history, or retrieve online files from the cloud, including files that are in the Trash and older versions of files. Marking files for offline use You can mark files for offline use so that you can access them even when your device has no network connection. To mark files for offline use: 1. Select the files that you want to mark for offline use. 2. From the More menu, select Use offline. 7
The selected files are marked for offline use and copied to the Sync folder. A file icon indicates that the file has been marked for offline use. Note: Files that have originally been added from the device are always available for offline use on that device. Viewing your content The Home view shows the icons and thumbnails of all files. At the right bottom of the page, you can switch between a list view and small or large icons. The Home view shows files from all the connected devices by default. The Devices view shows all devices that you have registered to your Personal Cloud. Clicking a device name shows you the folder structure of the device. The Devices view shows first the folders and then the files based on the device from which they were uploaded. Marking files as favorites You can mark files as favorites, which allows you to filter your content when you search for files. To mark files as favorites: 1. In the Home view, select the files that you want to mark as favorites. Note: To clear your selection, click Clear at the top left corner. 2. Click the icon. The selected files are marked as favorites and shown with a star on them. Finding your content You can use filtering to find and view a specific set of your files. You can search the content in your account using the navigation, search and filtering options. The following filtering options are available: File type Device Status File name To find your content: 1. Click to open the side panel, if not open. 2. To filter content by file type, under Home, select the file type that you want to view. You can select one of the following: - Pictures - Videos - Music - Documents 8

To filter content by its status, under Collections, select the file status that you want to use as a filter. You can select Favorites or Shared files. 4. To find content by folders based on a specific device from which the files were added to the cloud, under Devices, select the desired device. 5. You can find content also by searching. You can search both for files and folders. To search for content, enter a keyword in the search field to filter content by file name. Note: The search supports standard wildcards: "*" (asterisk) and "?" (question mark). You can search for both files and folders. When you have entered at least four characters of your search term, the application automatically starts showing your search results, if any were found. Only the files with the selected filtering status are shown. Playing multimedia files The Personal Cloud application generates preview versions of synchronized media files, which you can play on your device. To play multimedia files: In the Home view, select the file that you want to play. Sharing files You can share your content in one of the following ways: By In social networks The Personal Cloud application creates a unique URL (link) every time you share content via messages, Facebook, or Twitter. Shared content is marked with the share icon. Sharing files by You can share your files by sending your contacts a link to the shared content by . To share files or folders: 1.
