1 THE FOURTH CLEVELAND CLINIC BRAIN MAPPING WORKSHOP May 4-7, 2016 Tudor Arms Double Tree Hotel Carnegie Ave Cleveland, OH Limited to just 40 participants
2 THE FOURTH CLEVELAND CLINIC BRAIN MAPPING WORKSHOP About the Workshop For pragmatic reasons, frontal lobe epilepsies have been separated and allocated in the heterogeneous group of extra-temporal epilepsies. Despite improvements in imaging modalities and non-invasive methods of seizure localization, epilepsies originated from the frontal lobes continue to represent a clinical challenge, mainly in patients with non-lesional MRIs. Difficulties in semiology characterization and the complexity of large-scale epileptic networks associated with frontal lobe seizures may be contributing to the challenge task of successfully treating these patients. The aim of this workshop is to demonstrate and exemplify, through a practical and comprehensive approach, the utility of the stereo-electroencephalography methodology in mapping epileptic and functional networks, which are originated or spreading to the frontal lobe areas of the human brain. Learning Objectives Discuss the analyses methods for ictal video-recordings. Explore the correlations between ictal signs, semiology and EEG patterns. Discuss the correlations between emergence of semiology, early ictal discharges and cortical functional anatomy in SEEG. Explore the role of semiology in presurgical investigations, especially in tailoring the SEEG electrode implantation. Apply the network concept of seizure organization in practice from planning the implantation to the final resection strategy. Workshop Directors Andreas Alexopoulos, MD, MPH Cleveland Clinic Epilepsy Center Juan Bulacio, MD Cleveland Clinic Epilepsy Center Guest Faculty Francesco Cardinale, MD Niguarda Hospital Milan, Italy Robert T.
