1 Pyrford Church of England Primary School 23 September 2016 In this week s newsletter: Golden Book winners Friends AGM notice Co-op Local Community Fund Dates for the academic year. Secondary School Open Days / Evenings Running Club Church news Good morning. Time now seems to be flying by as we really get into the term. This week all classes have been focusing on teaching and learning now that we are settling into our new school building. Already our first outside visit is taking place, with Year 3 who are visiting Butser Ancient Farm today. Keep an eye out in upcoming newsletters to see how they got on. The site continues to progress. I am told that final demolition plans have been agreed with contractors and we will shortly receive the phased planning for this. We are really looking forward to having extended space for the children to play in. Ultimately all landscaping etc is due to be completed in February. In anticipation of this, we would like this term to start planning the children s play equipment which as a whole school community we have been raising funds for. We will be engaging the children as part of this planning as soon as we have confirmed footage and where on the site we can get it installed. We are keen to make our whole school environment inviting for everyone and a social place before and after school. I will keep you informed as plans progress. As part of the play equipment plans, the cost of which we are wholly responsible for, we would like to raise as much money as possible and this will be our focus as a PTA. We will be holding our PTA AGM on Wednesday 28th September at 7.30pm in the school hall. Please do come and join us to see how we can work together to get this up and running for the children as soon as possible. At the end of last term the school made a bid for the newly launched Co-op Local Community Fund and we were successful. The bid was based on the need to provide play equipment for the children at Pyrford. The Co-op will be writing a press release and more formal communication about this, but as a heads up please read below and over the page. How it works We sent home forms this week for you to update contact details etc. Please can you ensure that you complete the Country of Birth and Nationality questions right at the bottom. Many thanks. The Office Team Every time Co-op members choose Co-op branded products and services and use their Co-op Membership card (subject to Co-op Membership T&Cs) 1% of what they spend will go to their chosen cause. Members can change their choice at any time until the end of the giving period on 18th March If members don't pick a cause during the giving period then their 1% is shared out equally between all the local causes in their community. Any funds raised for our cause will be distributed shortly after the end of the giving period. As soon as we have further information from the Co-op we will send it on to you, but please pop into our local store and register for membership. Next week we are holding our meet the teacher, curriculum talks and new school tours. Please do come along and feel free to ask any generic questions which you feel would benefit parents. We are happy to provide any information we can and are looking forward to showing you around our new building. Please also keep checking the dates section as we are adding to these weekly. Best wishes for a good weekend. Kathryn Krynicki Headteacher
2 Chestnut - Lexie Lorch for being kind and thoughtful. Oak - Muhammad-Zakariyya Hussain for settling into a new class cheerfully. Cedar - Imaan Hussain for working really hard on her writing. Hawthorn - Thomas Atkins for excellent behaviour and working hard all the time. Sycamore - Aiza Asif for working hard and for making friends. We re part of the fund for the next six months which means that we will get a contribution towards new playground facilities. But we need your help. The more support we get, the more funding we could receive. So if you're a Co-op Member log in to your Co-op Membership account and choose us. If you're not a member, please join and support us! The stores supporting our school are the Co-ops in Pyrford, Knaphill (High Street), Knaphill (Victoria Road), Ripley and Wych Hill.
