11 RFID Lab Finland background RFID Lab Finland ( originally founded in late 2004, was reorganized in Feb 3 rd 2009 as a public registered association RFID Lab Finland ry by its 33 member companies and organizations. 12 RFID Lab Finland targets and activities The target for RFID Lab Finland activities is to enhance the business activity based on the Finnish knowhow in the area of automatic identification and especially in RFID business area. To meet the target RFID Lab Finland will realize clustering, information collection and information sharing activities, thematic and technology seminars, excursions, educational and workshop services, participate nationally and internationally in the seminars in this business area as well as run development projects and initiatives in Finland. RFID Lab Finland development initiatives focus is currently on RFID in supply chains & service solutions, for example in harsh environments supply chains, Healthcare, and Retail&Logistics areas.

14 RFID Lab Finland Board and Management The board of RFID Lab Finland ry is chaired by Mr. Jarkko Miettinen, VP Business Development at Confidex Oy, and vice-chaired by Mr. Samuli Strömberg, VP Marketing at UPM Raflatac Oy. Other board members represent the following companies and organizations: City of Vantaa/Vantaa Innovation Institute, Nokia Corporation, GS1 Finland, Helsinki University of Technology, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, VTT Finnish Research Center, TeliaSonera, Elisa, Vilant Systems, Norfello/Loginets, and Enfucell. RFID Lab Finland is run under the leadership of executive director Mikko Punakivi together with project manager Sami Kalliokoski.
