3 Personalized Diagnostics and Care Personalized health care is a global trend, which creates plenty of new business opportunities An individualized health care is needed, so that eg. the most expensive treatments can be targeted to those who really will benefit from these treatments. The public sector has the main responsibility for the reforms, but this goal is realized only in broad cooperation with all sectors. This program allows the Finnish actors to be involved at the forefront in developing new operating models. Finnish health care infrastructure provides a good framework for the implementation of the program and for new ways of acting. The program is an excellent example of cooperation between different sectors of the society! 3

4 Personalized Diagnostics and Care The overall objective of the Personalized Diagnostics and Care program is to partially change health care priorities from waiting of symptoms towards early prevention of disease using personalized diagnostics and treatment. The program will also create new health care technologies and practices. Performing the research needed in the program would be completely impossible without the cooperation with major actors in the health sector. Extensive co-operation with all parties enables utilization of the genome information in clinical healthcare by an effective and responsible manner, taking also into account the sociological and socioeconomic aspects. The Academy of Finland program Personalised Health From genes to society is also complementing the whole. 4

5 For the first time in Finnish health and well-being area, "Personalized Diagnostics and Care" program will enable stakeholders in public and private health care, occupational health, multidisciplinary research and industry to build together new approaches for personalized diagnostics and care. GET IT DONE. Personalized Diagnostics and Care The overall objective of the program is to enhance the use of personalized medicine, especially personalized diagnostics and treatments. The program focuses on the efficient utilization of personal health records, patient records and genomic information including new technologies in point-of-care testing. The ICT solutions to be developed, including genetic and other laboratory data, support the effective use of patient data both in the prevention and care of diseases. - GET IT DONE. 5

6 The Consortium The consortium consists of 17 parties, 12 companies and 5 research organisations with 16 research groups in total. The participating companies: Labsystems Diagnostics Oy (earlier Ani Labsystems ALS), ArcDia International Oy Ltd, Carea Kymenlaakso Social and Health Services, Duodecim Medical Publications Ltd, Pharmaceutical Information Centre (LTK), HUS - The Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa, Oy Medix Biochemica Ab, Mehiläinen Oy, Orion Diagnostica Oy (OD), Orion Pharma (OP), The Finnish Red Cross Blood Service (SPR) and United Medix Laboratories Ltd (YML).
