2 What is the manufacturing cluster about? The manufacturing industry in Tampere Region is exceptionally wide and varied. The area has been the industrial pioneer in Finland since the 18th century. Over the time, the region s manufacturing companies have gone through major changes and proactively found new growing business segments. Today, the Tampere Region is a lively and strong centre of the Finnish manufacturing industry. Diverse research, education and cooperation between companies and universities have maintained and further developed the region s competitiveness. An internationally recognised fair city The New Factory, located in Tampere, won the European Innovation award in Today, the concept is being widely adopted by other innovative cities around the world. As the leading European start-up accelerator and agile demo creation lab, the New Factory is a modern platform for open innovation. SUBCONTRACTING TRADE FAIR LOGISTICS FAIR First held in Tampere in 1988,the Subcontracting Trade Fair showcases the metal, electronics, plastic and rubber industries and industrial ICT solutions, as well as planning and consulting services for those industries. The event introduces more than 2,000 new innovations every year. The Logistics Fair provides the latest information on material handling and internal logistics. It brings together professionals and experts to explore the latest products, services and solutions in logistics. INDUSTRIAL SERVICES FAIR The Industrial Services Trade Fair is held every second year. The fair s key elements are maintenance and manufacturing, energy efficiency, environment solutions, management and industrial ICT, tools and safety students 250 projects Protomo is a developing community for star-up businesses where idea developers, seasoned professionals and young talents spar with each other create products and service development.
