WELCOME President s Address
IOM Sees a Future Where All Nurses are Leaders nurses have been viewed as workers who carry out tasks delegated by physicians and not as strategic thinkers. Nurses need a new set of competencies knowledge and ethics policy making translating research into practice. Nurses must see themselves as full partners.
IOM Sees a Future Where All Nurses are Leaders The public is not used to viewing nurses as leaders, and not all nurses begin careers with thoughts of becoming a leader, all nurses must be leaders
IOM Sees a Future Where All Nurses are Leaders Nurses must make critical decisions associated with care for sicker, frailer patients and work with sophisticated, life-saving technology Nurses will be increasingly called upon to act as primary care providers. Nurses will be asked to help patients manage chronic illnesses Nurses must now use complex information management systems to improve the quality and effectiveness of care. Nurses are integral members of multi-disciplinary care teams
Nurses Are Leaders
