1 FORKLIFT DRIVER S TRAINING COURSE OBJECTIVE To equip participants with the necessary knowledge and required skills to perform forklift operation. To impart to participants the appropriate attitude to ensure safe forklift operation FOR WHOM Workers who are involved or will be involved in driving and operating forklifts in shipyards. COURSE CONTENTS Duties & responsibilities of forklift driver Function & use of forklift Types of forklift & essential parts Health & safety requirements Pre-operation check & operational test Do s & Don ts for forklift operation Safe use of forklift Common forklift accidents Forklift stability concepts & principles Forklift operation & pallet handling Forklift driving Refuelling & recharging of forklift Cargo handling symbols & interpretation Hazardous materials symbols & interpretation, handling & storage Accident case studies COURSE TYPE AND DURATION With Class 3 or above Driving Licence Without Class 3 or above Driving Licence COURSE STRUCTURE The course comprises of theory and practical session: With Class 3 or above : 24 hours (3 days) : 40 hours (5 days) Without Class3 or above Theory -7 hours -7 hours Practical -14 hours -30 hours Test/Assessment -3 hours -3 hours ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residetns or holders of valid Work Permits Able to read and write English Medically fit Company-sponsored LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION English COURSE PROVIDERS Association of Singapore Marine Industries (ASMI) (Approved Training Provider under Ministry of Manpower) COURSE VENUE Approved Training Centres (ATCs) : Keppel FELS, 31 Shipyard Road Tel: Sembawang Shipyard, Admiralty Rd West Tel: COURSE FEE 3-day course ASMI member: Non-ASMI member: 5-day course ASMI Member: Non-ASMI Member: S$360 (S$ inclusive of 7% GST) per participant S$ (S$ inclusive of 7% GST) per participant S$ (S$ inclusive of 7% GST) per participant S$600 (S$ inclusive of 7% GST) per participant CERTIFICATION Candidates who have successfully completed the course and pass the course test and assessment will be issued with a Certificate of Completion and a Forklift Dirver s Pass by ASMI. REGISTRATION Registration for the training course must be made using the prescribed training course Registration Form available from ASMI or ATCs. Applicants may register for the course either with ASMI or directly with the preferred ATC. For direct registration with ATC, please add GST to course fee. For registration with ASMI and payment by cheque, the cheque should be crossed and made payable to : Association of Singapore Marine Industries REPLACEMENT Replacement of candidate is allowed if the substitute meets all entry requirements and request is made at least 3 working days before course commencement. WITHDRAWAL POLICY Any application for refund should be made in writing to ASMI.
