2 This September, MassBio hosts its 21st annual Golf Classic to benefit the MassBioEd Foundation our industry s commitment to training the workforce of today and tomorrow. MassBioEd serves as a thought leader, advocate, and invaluable resource in STEM education, both in Massachusetts and at the national level. STEM education is essential for the development of the next generation of life science professionals and the future of the life sciences and biotech sectors. Net roceeds from this tournament will be used for MassBioEd s signature BioTeach program in addition to the other MassBioEd programs. Through BioTeach, MassBioEd: rovided lab equipment grants to schools so teachers could expand their laboratory capabilities and introduce relevant life sciences experiments to their students. Involved educators in professional development life sciences technical training workshops which are aligned with the national Next Generation Science Standards. aired participating schools with companies for career exploration so students can make better decisions when planning their academic pathway. To date, 211 schools across the Commonwealth have received MassBioEd support. This year, with the generous support of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, and our corporate partners, we were able to invite 10 new schools to join our BioTeach rogram. In school year, BioTeach: Granted over $250,000 in lab equipment to Massachusetts public high schools. Delivered 50 hours of biotechnology focused teacher professional development to 200 teachers from 45 schools. Supported implementation of biotechnology labs with 30 days of in-class teacher to teacher mentoring. Hosted 16 College and Career Exploration events for 730 students from 28 high schools at local college campuses and companies. We can only expand our STEM education efforts with your support, long term commitment, and passion.
