1 Elevating Healthcare Director NP/PA Services, Hospitalist & Clinical Development Department: Clinical Reports To: Vice President Quality & Clinical Development FLSA Status: Exempt The Director NP/PA Services, Hospitalist and Clinical Development is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and oversight of all NP-PA personnel activities and for working collaboratively with the Vice President Quality and Clinical Development in hospitalist / clinical development related activities. Working in close partnership with Eagle corporate operations managers/ directors, the responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the development, implementation and management of NP-PA on-boarding programs for physicians working in NP- PA practices and for NP-PAs; collaborating with site specific hospitals to ensure the most effective, efficient and costeffective use of NP-PA/physician teams and remaining actively engaged in managing these teams; serve as a resource and collaborate with Eagle Hospital Physicians administrative and clinical team on all NP-PA related activities; actively participate in NP-PA recruiting; and keeps abreast of NP-PA licensing and other practice specific regulatory requirements with communication of such to Eagle s credentialing department. Performs all other duties related to hospitalist and clinical development as assigned by the Chief Medical Office (CMO) and/or Vice President Quality and Clinical Development. 2 ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. 1. Provides oversight of NP-PA practice within hospitals that use Eagle hospitalist services. This includes but is not limited to: Serve as a key resource regarding NP-PA utilization and practice throughout the hospital system and Eagle corporate office Maintain a current data base for NP-PA state and federal laws/regulations to include state licensure educational requirements Serves as a resource for Eagle credentialing in ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws/regulations, and hospital specific bylaws and policies and procedures, including credentialing/privileging criteria per The Joint Commission Develop a system and assist in the management of ongoing and focused practice reviews at the site level Develop, implement, and maintain state specific protocols/position descriptions/ practices agreements Monitor NP-PA practice, supervision, and scope of protocols/position descriptions/ practices agreements Maintain a current Medical Staff Bylaws & Rules/Regulations data base for all Eagle practice sites with NP-PAs with site specific NP-PA practice information Keeps CMO, VP Quality & Clinical Development, and Eagle credentialing abreast of all federal, state, and hospital changes regarding NP/PA practice Work with hospital partner and other Eagle management teams/personnel to explore mutual opportunities Marketing of NP-PA services to include meeting presentations, staffing/supporting recruitment events, etc. 2. Develop a program for NP-PAs that will assist in a seamless transition and integration into the system Creation of an on-boarding /introductory program for NP-PA teams Assure Physician and NP/PA team contact and follow-up as appropriate and/or as directed by the VP Quality & Clinical Development and/or CMO Develop NP-PA tool kit for physicians and NP/PAs that will include suggestions for team building activities, scheduling, work assignments, and on-going performance improvement processes Incorporate SHM resources into an online Eagle tool kit for NP-PAs Develop specific webinars and other educational opportunities that will provide physician-np-pa team support and resources to improve practice (continued next page)

Assess clinical operations of physician-led teams and maintain practice environment Work with CMO and other IT services to develop system wide-professional Portfolio for NP-PAs where activities, encounters, education, and career development are recorded on a regular basis Work in collaboration with billing/coding department to ensure appropriate billing for NP-PA services Investigate opportunities to increase revenue through appropriate team practices Serve as a member of the NP/PA consultant team with assigned responsibilities as indicated 4. Provide clinical and administrative support to Medical Directors and/or lead physicians as directed by the CMO and VP Quality & Clinical Development Serve as liaison between NP-PAs, hospital administration, and hospitalist service Facilitate the development of NP-PA practice committees within each site Facilitate onsite quarterly meetings of NP-PAs Regularly communicate with CMO and VP Quality & Clinical Development regarding the performance of physician-led NP-PA teams and activities 5. Work in collaboration with the VP Quality & Clinical Development to develop and implement quality improvement projects within the system. These include but are not limited to: CMS initiatives SHM/IHI/AHRA and other quality initiatives Develop a Clinical Process Improvement Committee at each site led by Eagle employed NP/PAs 6. Performs all other special projects as assigned by the CMO and VP Quality & Clinical Development. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 4 2. Have experience working with NP-PA practitioners and team based delivery of health care 3. Have a track record of successful project management and clinical process improvement activities 4. Have a track record of successful educational programming and related activities 5. Be aware of current and forthcoming legislative changes/updates in healthcare that will have a direct impact on NP-PA practice 6. Be an expert in accreditation and state and national regulations/legislation that govern NP- PA practice 7. Be an adept change agent that works well with others by gaining cooperation and support through effective use of influence and persuasion to achieve results 8. Be an enthusiastic team player and collaborator 9. Be comfortable working independently and using computer technology to support work 10. Be able to travel regularly EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Minimum two three years as hospitalist Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Masters degree in Clinical Science and/or Masters in Business or Healthcare Administration preferred, not required Two - three years experience in clinical and/or administrative management preferred, not required LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Thorough knowledge of NP-PA practice is mandatory. Must possess the ability to: Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Write reports, business correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals. Effectively present information at meetings formal and informal-and respond to questions from administration, physicians, non-physicians, employees, clients and patients. Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentage, ratios and proportions to practical situations REASONING ABILITY: Must possess and demonstrate the ability to define problems, measure by collecting data, and analyze information to establish facts and draw valid conclusions (continued next page)

5 CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) or Physician Assistant Program. Graduate of an accredited Masters program. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 1. Must be able to stand 80% of the workday and/or sit 80% or more of the workday related to clinical and/or administrative tasks. 2. Must be able to lift up to 20lbs with little or no assistance. 3. Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, and squat 15% of the workday. 4. Manual dexterity required 50% of the workday. 5. Must be able to flex and extend wrist and arms 80% of the workday. 6. Good visual acuity (with correction) and the ability to bring shapes into focus are essential to read computer screens, reports, claims, etc. 7. Good hearing and speech are essential to communication in this position. 8. Must be able to travel to multiple hospital sites without limitations. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in an office or clinical setting. When working remotely, the employee is expected to have immediate access to computers, telephone, fax, files, and other necessary equipment to perform the job successfully.
