3 Cluster e-freight The Cluster will observe, report on, and disseminate information regarding activities that are part of the e-freight developments. Some activities are addressed in the finalised e-freight project and involve issues regarding: - common framework, - single transport document - national single windows. The e-freight project is the reference for this cluster. 3

4 Background of e-freight e-freight does: allow for entering information only once in the whole logistics chain for planning, execution, monitoring and reporting purposes. retrieve information on vehicle position and network status from modal traffic information and management systems. develop a structure for the use of information coming from tracking and tracing technologies as well as for intelligent cargo applications. support the development of interoperable information and booking tools for an optimised use of multimodal transport possibilities. 5 Cluster e-freight The cluster working group consisted of the cluster leader MARLO and the partners PTV, NewRail, Rapp, VTT and Bluegreen. Close contact and collaboration has been established with: The project co-ordinators of the EU funded projects Freightwise, Euridice, Smart_CM, Integrity, SmartFreight, RISING, CHINOS, e-freight, COFRET, icargo, Logistics for LIFE, SuperGreen, 3DRAIL, COMCIS and EcoHubs. Similar developments in USA and Asia, in an attempt to ensure intercontinental interoperability. UBL 2.1 and standard ISO/IEC FDIS on information interoperability is involved. 5

6 Cluster e-freight proceeding 40 inventories and 15 in-depth surveys over the project life time. The cluster has organized 2 independent cluster workshops - in Vilnius in cooperation with VGTU, - in Barcelona in cooperation with ITENE and together with the 2 other clusters 2 joint workshop, - in Amsterdam, - in Rotterdam over the project life time. 6
