UDIA NSW PROJECT MANAGEMENT SPECIALISING IN PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT
PROJECT MANAGEMENT SPECIALISING IN PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT 1 Project management is about achieving goals. It is about having the ability and skills to successfully deliver a project on time and on budget, while managing a variety of stakeholders, mitigating risk, developing plans and contingencies, and contributing to the overall performance of your team and organisation. Regardless of your role, you already participate in either formal or informal projects. At some point in your career, you will take part in, or lead a project so it's vital to understand how to connect the pieces together from the idea stage through to delivery. In property development, exceptional project management skills are key to completing a development on time and on budget. To be a successful development manager, you must first become a great project manager. This course allows you to begin that journey by developing your core project management skills. UDIA NSW PROJECT MANAGEMENT SPECIALISING IN PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT UDIA NSW's BSB41507 Certificate IV in Project Management (Specialising in Property Development) has been specifically developed for the property development industry by UDIA NSW in conjunction with industry experts and vocational education experts. The qualification is the only nationally-recognised qualification of its kind that teaches project management competencies unique to the property development industry. The qualification is delivered and issued by our partnering Registered Training Organisation AIFA (RTO No ). It delivers the core project management competencies as set by BSB41507 Certificate IV in Project Management from the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as well as the specific knowledge and skills required to work on a development team. BSB41507 Certificate IV in Project Management (Specialising in Property Development)
COURSE INFORMATION 2 COURSE OVERVIEW This qualification teaches technical and business professionals how to master the critical skills of project management such as identifying the steps required to deliver the end goal, the process of documentation, identifying potential risks and solutions, analysing and evaluating information, effectively engaging members of a team, and communicating with key stakeholders. The skills and expertise acquired in this course are vitally important for those who work in the property and construction industries and aspire to work in the capacity of a project manager, construction manager, or development manager. During the course, students apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems and analyse information from a variety of sources. Through extensive demonstration, practice and the application of skills, the qualification produces work-ready graduates geared with the key skills necessary to be part of a development team. COURSE LEVEL The course is at the level of an assistant project manager supporting a project manager. It is suitable for team members who may provide leadership and guidance to others within a team dynamic, and who have some limited responsibility for other team members' output. PATHWAYS FROM THIS QUALIFICATION After achieving BSB41507 Certificate IV in Project Management (Specialising in Property Development) students may undertake BSB51407 Diploma of Project Management (Specialising in Property Development). CREDIT TRANSFER Students who are already competent in a particular unit may apply for a Credit Transfer. RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING Students who believe they can demonstrate competence in a particular unit of competency through work, training or life experience may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning as part of their enrolment. COURSE DURATION The qualification is delivered over a period of 16 weeks through a blended method of online self-directed learning and regular interactive tutorials. Students are required to give a 16 week commitment in order to complete the course and attend eight live-interactive online tutorial sessions. The two-hour tutorials are scheduled fortnightly. WHO SHOULD ENROL The qualification has been uniquely designed and developed for those who work, or aspire to work as part of a property development team. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS There are no entry requirements for this qualification. NATIONALLY RECOGNISED QUALIFICATION This course is delivered by our partnering Registered Training Organisation AIFA (RTO No ). Upon attaining a competent result for all units of competency, graduates will attain a BSB41507 Certificate IV in Project Management (Specialising in Property Development) issued by AIFA. Students with any not-yet-competent results remaining upon course completion, will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment. COURSE PREREQUISITES There are no prerequisites for individual units of competency. However, students should hold a relevant position in the property development industry or have an interest in entering this industry. Students should also have language, literacy and numeracy level sufficient to allow them to manage industry specific teminology and calculations.
UNIQUE LEARNING APPROACH 3 INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC CURRICULUM The curriculum has been co-written by vocational education experts and leading industry professionals in the development sector who provide real-life relevance, focusing on the practical application of knowledge. This ensures that the course meets the latest industry benchmarks through tools, techniques, examples, checklists and many other resources sourced from Australia's foremost development experts. UNIQUE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT Our point of difference is the creation of highly realistic simulated workplace environments, that places the students in various real life roles for example as a project manager, project officer or other team member to practice workplace employability skills. CUSTOMISED LEARNING There are opportunities for organisations that would like to train a large number of staff to customise the learning platform through the addition of their own internal project framework and methods within the online learning system. If you would like further information on platform customisation, please contact UDIA NSW at pd@udia-nsw.com.au or on ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM The course content is delivered through a web-based Learning Management System named AQUA. AQUA provides a platform for students to download course content, schedules and other instructions as well as complete and submit assessment tasks. The portal also allows for students to communicate with their tutor, other support staff and classmates. The AQUA Learning Management System is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. LIVE INTERACTIVE TUTORIALS The tutorials provide the opportunity for practice and assessment of communication techniques and skills by replicating a business environment. The assessment of communication skills in a workplace environment is an essential element of qualification training. Tutors provide relevant skills and knowledge, demonstrate examples and practice scenarios for students to work through in the tutorial. Tutorials are scheduled at a fixed time for two hours on a fortnightly cycle. The student attends the session via a web cam and headset. Participants observe, listen to and interact with the tutor through their desktop and can view and communicate with each other to closely simulate a working environment. The tutorial session recordings are made available through AQUA. COURSE CONTRIBUTORS KNOWLEDGE SKILL ADVANTAGE
SUPPORTED LEARNING 4 SUPPORTED LEARNING Throughout the course, students are fully supported by a number of key people to maintain course progression. Students accepted for enrolment in the course are formed into student cohorts typically between 12 to 17 students. Each student cohort is assigned a tutor, an assessor, and a cohort manager. The tutor is responsible for delivering, managing and monitoring all elements of the tutorial and learning process. The assessor marks submitted assessments and the cohort manager is responsible for administrative matters related to each student cohort and enrolment affairs. Tutors and cohort managers monitor key progression indicators to identify students who may require additional support from the tutor. SUPPORTED PROGRESSION The course will have the following milestones to assist the student to plan their study times and achieve their study goals: a) the course commencement date; b) assessment due dates; c) the final assessment due date; d) the course closure date; e) tutorial schedule, and f) the certification date. The progression of each student is managed and monitored throughout the course to ensure that students progress successfully, with support to complete training, and gain the qualification at the certification date.
