5 Summer 2016 Youth Program Guide Registered Programs About the coaches Branson Schell Sarah Vosburgh I began playing hockey at the age of 4 and joined the Port Hope Panthers at age 15. During my years of hockey I have built lifelong friendships and learned many life skills about teamwork, hard work and how to be a healthy athlete. I have been a volunteer and employee of YMCA Northumberland for the past few years and was the recipient of the YMCA James Commerford Youth award in I m currently studying Animation and Design at Durham College. My goal is to share the same positive experiences of playing hockey that I was fortunate to have. I have been employed with YMCA Northumberland Youth Programs for ten years and have also participated in baseball for several years. I have learned a lot from coaches and the playing experience. With this combined knowledge and through my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology I have learned how to motivate athletes of all ages and break down complex skills into simple steps. My main goal when coaching baseball is to have fun developing skills, while also teaching how to do so safely. My favourite part about playing baseball is having fun on the field and a sense of accomplishment after a game or practice, knowing I have given it my all! Tad Ito Jessie Atkinson Growing up my friends and I always had a genuine love for almost every sport including the odd ones like Ultimate Frisbee. I have been playing seriously for about 7 years now and have had lots of firsthand experience with the game. During my high-school years I played as a handler and traveled to many different locations for tournaments, and made some great friends in the process. From my coaches and teammates to my opponents, everyone I ve met through Ultimate Frisbee has made my experience just that much better. Ultimate Frisbee is a game that is easygoing and is perfect for keeping you moving and thinking for an all-around great experience. I have always been a passionate sports enthusiast with a desire to facilitate youth development in sport. With many years of team coaching and management both locally and throughout Canada I m excited that through the baseball program, children will learn important lessons about teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership and communication while improving their physical health, self-esteem and lifelong social skills. My goal for this program is to help children learn a sport, make some new friends and have fun!
