1 Welcome to TransArabia An epic foot race to cross Jordan from The Dead Sea to the Red Sea via Wadi Rum and Petra. Now part of The Desert Challenge 2 races in 2 countries that will ultimately lead to one incredible final race. These first 2 races will offer a choice of 100k/200k/300k non-stop distances. The organizers have 10 years experience with creating and staging desert races. TransArabia and TransOmania. Race across the Arabian Desert. At both you will be starting at a coastline and finishing at or near another coastline with the sea awaiting your arrival. Our team has organized many events in this region and The Desert Challenge promises to be unforgettable in terms of distance and format. The beauty of this format is that you can race at your own pace and through the night but there will still be the opportunities to spend time in the company of other runners at camps throughout. Tents and water to boil will be available at camp at end of each stage but food/nutrition is mostly carried by racers. UTMB Qualifying Points TransArabia and TransOmania 300k/285k single stage non-stop races are worth 4 UTMB points.the 160K is worth 2 UTMB points

3 Relay Options 300 km (teams of 3-6) in max 100 hours (start at Dead Sea Camp) 200 km (teams of 2-4) in max 75 hours (start at Petra) Landscapes We will pass through three different types of landscape: 140 km of mountains 80 km of canyons, wadis and sand valleys 74 km of sand dunes and mixed desert terrain (track through the desert) Meeting Point and Bivouacs We will meet and part at the 5 star Movenpick Resort on the Dead Sea, Jordan. If you want to meet us directly at departure point, please let us know. It is also possible to book an extra night stay Movenpick or at the Desert camp at Wadi Rum. You can contact us to arrange this. Camps/Bivouacs for 300k 5 bivouacs/camps will be set up for you at departure point and on the marked route for you to refill your supplies or have a rest: Control point and Departure point (0 km) at the Dead Sea one day for acclimatization and a day to check and confirm your obligatory equipment and calories carried for the race. (First station/bivouac 1) in at km 82 (station/bivouac 2) in Petra Camp at km 124 (station/bivouac 3) in WadiRum area at km 200 (station/bivouac 4) Arrival to final Wadi Rum Camp km 300 (Final station/bivouac 5) Itinerary : November 22/23-28, 2014 Event Program/Itinerary Transportation from Queen Alia International Airport to Movenpick Resort can be arranged on the ground. Sunday, November 23-12:00-2:00 competitor check in and reception at Movenpick Resort (5 star hotel) Dead Sea Monday: Control day, gear check and the day acclimatization day (The Dead Sea) Monday 18:00 Start of the race of 300 km (The Dead Sea) Wednesday: 8:00 Start of the race 160 km (Petra to Wadi Rum Camp) Thursday: 08:00 Start of the race 100 km (circuit within of Wadi Rum) Friday: Arrival of 300k/ 200/100 km to final camp in Wadi Rum Saturday, November 29th afternoon - Transfer back via Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea and then back to Amman

4 Briefing Before start, we will brief you with the necessary information and check if you have the required supplies and equipment. It is a part of the application form and we will not allow you to run without checking it. Shoes Preparation tips - at least one and a half size bigger than your usual size; - bring your shoes with you in the airplane cabin (you can never know if your baggage will get lost) - Feet - bring foot care products - bring needle and thread, iodine, plasters, 2 cm double layer elastic bandage, scissors, moleskin, compresses - take an iodine antiseptic wash (eg. Betadine) 10 days before for feet; - Friction - bring an elastic band for each critical areas (shoulders, thighs, crotch, toes ) lashes fabric to avoid friction. Compulsory equipment Long sleeve Jacket (for cold at night) Mattress - Sleeping bag hydration system (flasks or bag) holding min. 3 liters survival/space blanket signal mirror whistle 2 head lamps batteries and 2 sets of spare batteries lighter small first aid kit/blister treatment kit one role of elastic band (min. 1 m) compass pocket knife eye protection/sunglasses overnight and warm clothing cap/head cover sunscreen/sunblock lotion 3 Cyalum (glow sticks) 2 paper tissues (rolls TP) Backpack (30 liter is suggested) for 300k minimum number of calories (6000 calories for 300k racers)

5 Calories and Drop Bag : IMPORTANT! 300k Each runner must have a minimum of 6000 calories in total, and the control/checkpoint person must verify before departure. Each runner has the option on the 300 km to file a drop bag (max 11 kilos) with extra 2000 calories : 4000 departure calories on drop bag ) No drop bag for 200 km and 130 km races Water and checkpoints : The water CP's will be about 20 to 30 kms apart. At each it will be mandatory to leave with 3 liters of water. There will be approximately 13 CP's for the full route and CP 13 will be the finish. Visa and Formalities : Very practical Visas will be issued at the airport upon our arrival in Amman.
