For those with early flights (from around 2pm) we give them early start. Normally very dry area -hard ground. Good to use orienteering-shoes with or without spikes. Jogging shoes can also be used but can be a bit slippery. 4 MOC sprint distance 07th March Start and finish arena will be at the walking distance from the hotel. Very interesting old town with a mix of small narrow and bigger streets, passages etc Traffic will not be stoped, but its not too busy.best to use jogging-shoes or sprint-oshoes like Innov8. Detailed and interesting orienteering where you have to use your skills! Good to use orienteeringshoes with or without spikes. Jogging shoes can also be used but can be a bit slippery. Middlle distance 12 th March Scale 1:7500m, e=5m, Göreme Mapped 2011 Ales Hejna, Jan Drbal, Jiri Danek Distances: km Mostly open area, pressed sand, orienteering between unusual shapes. Some slopes can be dangerous. Normally very dry area -hard ground. Good to use orienteering-shoes with spikes. Night Sprint distance in Istanbul Sultanahmet area 13 th March Unique chance to run orienteering at the heart of Istanbul. Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia are the main reference points. Traffic won t be stopped, be aware of cars. Map: Scale 1/4.000, contours 2,5m, map size A4 Mapped by: Victor Dyachkov RUS, Oct2011 / Map correction will be done in March 2015 Classic Distance, Belgrad Orman Istanbul 14th March This area offers hilly terrain with lots of various depressions and some microdetails. Difference of height at one slope can be up to 150 m. Slippery slopes and thorny bushes might be dangerous. Runnability for very good (10%), to avarage (50%) and gren areas (40%). 6 Super Sprint, Istanbul Grand Bazaar 15th March Grand bazaar area offers short and very fast orienteering within the net of small streets, which are like in a complicated labyrinth crossing each other by different angles. Technically it reminds ski-o: High speed, high concentration. The most difficult part is a multilevel orienteering, which requires climbing stairs. Map: Scale 1/1.500, contours none, map size А4. Map by: Direnç Azaz (2001), Stas Zolotareov (2003) CLASSES/COURSES IN CYPRUS: Open Short (M and W, Youngsters, Beginners), Open Middle (M and W, Juniors), M21, W21, W40, M40, W50, M50, W60, M60, W65, M65, W70, M70, W75, M75, W80, M80. We will use Sport Ident electronic punching system. Rental fee for SI card is 20eur for MOC Tour, 8 races. Entries at the spot for Open class possible with 20eur start fee per start. Competitors are taking part at their own risk. There will be no risk covered by organizer. During the sprint race in old town Nicosia traffic will not be stopped. 8 Driving side is on left in Cyprus. If you are renting a car, check with the rental company if you are permitted to drive the rental car also in North Cyprus. Currency: Southern Cyprus = Euro, North Cyprus and Turkey = Turkish Lira. Easy to take out in ATM-machines. In many places also VISA/Mastercard works well. Sometimes is good to have with you adapter plug in, as well as some extension cables if you have more devices to charge, because sometimes in the rooms is just one electricity plug in.
