By booking a wedding with us you have a choice of venues: those belonging to the family business and additional venues we recommend. Our family of venues are the Famous Blacksmiths Shop in Gretna Green, the historic marriage venue famous for the tradition of an anvil ceremony since 1754; Greens at Gretna Water Gardens; and the recently restored Old Toll Bar, both in Gretna. Other venues we can book for you are Anvil Hall, a former church in Gretna; the traditional church venue of Gretna Old Parish in Gretna Green; and Bonshaw Tower, the local clan chief s historic residence in nearby Kirtlebridge. Your wedding celebrations can then continue within Greens at Gretna banqueting suites, with views across beautiful Scottish countryside or within Smiths at Gretna Green stunning banqueting suites, each with their own private garden (detail in a separate brochure). 4 Planning your Wedding Arranging your wedding ceremony with us is straightforward and involves three easy steps: decide on your date, choose your ceremony venue and whether you want a religious or civil ceremony. We will help and guide you through each stage. Choose Your Date We will advise you on dates that are available and make a provisional booking for you. Provisional bookings are held for two weeks. Choose Your Venue We have many venues for you to choose from including the tradition of an Anvil Wedding in the Famous Blacksmiths Shop to an outdoor ceremony in the Water Gardens at Greens at Gretna. Choose Your Ceremony Once you ve booked your venue with us we will arrange for a Civil Marriage Celebrant or help you arrange a Minister to conduct your ceremony. Enhance your Wedding Your Wedding Day is unique and to make it extra special we have many options that will enhance your day to make it even more memorable. 5 Your Choice of Our Venues Water Gardens Old Toll Bar Original Marriage Room Rennison Room We have various ceremony venues for your special day. You can marry here at Greens at Gretna within the beautiful Water Gardens or nearby at the Old Toll Bar. We also have three venues housed within the ancient building of the Famous Blacksmiths Shop in Gretna Green. The Famous Blacksmiths Shop, Gretna Green is where the tradition of an anvil ceremony began and you can marry within its Original Marriage Room. There are also two more modern rooms within the building: the Saddlery Room and the Rennison Room, an intimate room named after the last Anvil Priest. The Old Toll Bar sits right on the border with England and became a popular marriage venue when the road was built over the river and a Toll Bar established in Here, at Greens at Gretna you marry within the beautiful Water Gardens with views over the Solway. Your walk along the aisle, lit by hundreds of candles, creates a very special and romantic atmosphere. We can also book your wedding in Gretna Old Parish Church or Bonshaw Tower, where you marry within the ancient Chief s Room. The stone walls are lined with portraits of previous lairds including Robert the Bruce and King James VI. Anvil Hall, Gretna Accommodates 120 wedding guests seated and 60 standing cost includes 20 8x6 photographs in a modern album Gretna Old Parish Church, Gretna Green Accommodates up to 300 wedding guests Bonshaw Tower, Kirtlebridge Accommodates up to 60 wedding guests Legal Requirements Your Marriage Schedule You will both need to complete an M10 Form for the Gretna Registrars to create your Marriage Schedule. The earliest you can submit this form is 3 months before the date of your marriage or at the latest, 28 days before. For Civil Partnerships and Same Sex Marriages separate documentation is required. For Civil Partnerships a CP10 Form must be completed by both you and your partner and submitted to the Gretna Registry Office. At time of going to print we are awaiting instruction regarding legal documentation for Same Sex Marriages. Please note these documents must be forwarded to the Gretna Registry Office. We can help you with most queries relating to the relevant legal forms but we are not qualified on legal matters relating to your marriage. 9 Your Stay at Greens at Gretna Below are the accommodation rates, per room, inclusive of full Breakfast based on 2 sharing or for a family room shared by two adults and up to 2 children aged 15 and under (and a child under 2 years in a cot). Guaranteed check-in time is 3pm. Please reserve your guests accommodation when booking your wedding. This will be held for 14 days following your booking confirmation.
