2 WHAT IS PROACADEMY? A special unit in entrepreneurship at the Business School of TAMK University of Applied Sciences in Tampere, Finland Founded on September 6 th, > 10 years in 2009! An innovative way of studying and learning entrepreneurship Instead of teachers we have coaches Instead of classes we have offices No lectures or exams, instead selfdirected, project- and companydriven team learning supported by coaches

3 LEARNING PHILOSOPHY Primary elements are learning by doing and team learning - no teaching but creating a need to learn. Students start their own company in teams at the beginning of the 2 nd year of Bachelor studies. All studies are integrated to running the company and the team learning process. Model is based on the Team Academy unit from Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences (JAMK).

9 LEARNING CONTRACT BY IAN CUNNINGHAM The aim of the learning contract is to structure thoughts, add self- awareness, create goals for learning and to work as a tool for the team to set their common goal and to create trust. Learning contract answers the following: WHERE HAVE I BEEN, WHAT HAVE I DONE PREVIOUSLY? WHERE AM I NOW? WHAT DO I WANT TO ACCOMPLISH? HOW WILL I DO IT? HOW DO I MAKE SURE I HAVE REACHED MY GOAL?

14 WHAT DOES THE COACH DO? Coaches aren t responsible for the projects. They are not teachers, they don t give straight answers, they make students think themselves. They observe and support the development of the team and challenge and motivate the invididuals. Coaches are in no way part or legally connected to the student companies (nor is the university). Coach is an expert of the learning process.

15 GIVE ME NUMBERS! Nine graduated teams Currently four teams + two new teams in spring Around 20 % of graduated continue directly as an entrepreneur. The rest have employed themselves well. Last year over 100 projects. There are students at ProAcademy.
