1 INS 2014, JUNE 23-28,LIDO DI CAMAIORE GENERAL INFORMATION Dear INS members, the 2014 INS Meeting will be held in the village of Lido di Camaiore, in Versilia, Tuscany, on the west Italian coast. The village is at the centre of a beautiful region, full of natural and artistic attractions. Lido di Camaiore is 26 km from Pisa, 30 km from Lucca and 100 Km from Florence (you can find more information about the district on the INS website). The climate is usually very pleasant, and in June the temperatures range between 15ºC and 27ºC (59-81ºF). We hope that the venue, the social and the scientific programme, which as usual is various and attractive, would encourage you to join us in Versilia. We are trying to organize a nice, typical and relaxing stay for you and your accompanying persons. Please, don t hesitate to ask us if you need further information or help. 2 MEETING VENUE The Castle The Farm The Tower The Eleonora Duse building Position: Geographical coordinates: N 43º90'68'' E 10º21'58'' Versilia on the seafront of Lido di Camaiore, between Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi. The Park Hotel Villa Ariston is a charming hotel in a historic villa with a beautiful park, swimming pool and tennis court. The seaside is cross the road. There are 4 main buildings with rooms: The Castle (the main building), the Farm, the Tower, and the Eleonora Duse building. The sessions will be held in a pleasant room, in the Eleonora Duse building, next to the swimming pool, surrounded by the park where the coffee breaks will take place.

3 How to reach Lido di Camaiore By plane: The international airport of PISA is the most convenient flight destination and it is 30 minutes by taxi from the hotel. Airports Pisa (PSA) 38 Km 30 min Firenze (FLR) 93 Km 50 min Genova (GOA) 142 km 85 min The hotel can organize a shuttle from Pisa airport: for 7 person 80, please contact the hotel (Villa Ariston) for this possible arrangement. Pisa Airport is Directly Connected to the Italian Railway Network Catch your train at the Airport and go to Viareggio and then a taxi to the hotel. Of all European regional airports Pisa s Galileo Galilei is the one that is closest to a railway terminal (less than 40 metres of covered walkway). Direct railway lines connect every day Pisa Airport to Pisa Central Station and to Florence. At the Airport, you can buy your railway ticket at the information office in the arrivals hall. The railway terminal is located just outside the Check in hall. By train: It is also possible to easily reach Lido di Camaiore by train. Train Stations: Viareggio 4 Km, 8-10 min from the hotel, Pietrasanta, 6 Km, min from the hotel. The high-speed trains (FrecciaRossa or Italo) cover the journey between Rome and Florence, and Milan and Florence, in less than 3 hours. From Florence you can take local trains toward Viareggio. By car. Road directions: from Genoa / Milan / Parma -A12 motorway, exit VERSILIA direction LIDO DI CAMAIORE - VIAREGGIO once you reach the seafront continue south, with the sea to your right after passing MARINA DI PIETRASANTA the main hotel gate can be found on your left, immediately after a traffic light with a very high yellow sign for LIDO DI CAMAIORE

4 from Pisa / Florence / Rome - A12 motorway, exit VIAREGGIO direction LIDO DI CAMAIORE - FORTE DEI MARMI once you reach the seafront continue north, with the sea to your left after passing the centre of LIDO DI CAMAIORE, the main hotel gate can be found to your right. REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS From 1 st of February to March 31 st : 250 / person (245+5* ) After March 31 st : 300 / person ( * ) [*the 5 amount was agreed with Dorothea Weniger. It is intended to be saved in the INS Swiss bank account opened by Dorothea to serve as a back- -up for INS contingencies] Please note that, in the registration fee, rental of the meeting room and accessories, the coffee breaks (morning and afternoon), and the social events (welcome drink on Monday evening, excursion on Thursday afternoon and dinner on Thursday evening are included) You can choose to pay the registration fee by bank transfer or by credit card. CREDIT CARD a Paypal account allowing payments by credit card will be available shortly. Please send your registration request at INS2014.Italy@gmail.com to keep the benefit of the early bird fee. You'll be contacted by the organizers as soon as Paypal payment is activated. IMPORTANT: the 250 (or 300 in case of late Registration) should be the net amount transferred. Thus, the costs of the transfer should be at the sender s expense. Therefore, for the Paypal payment the members should pay 255 or 306.

5 Cancellation policy: 95% of paid registration fee will be returned in case of cancellation before June 1 ; 70% of paid amount will be returned if the cancellation is made between June 2nd and June 23. In case of no- -show without prior cancellation, no refund will be made. Please allow two or three weeks after the meeting for returns to be effective. ACCOMODATIONS PARK HOTEL VILLA ARISTON**** S info@villaariston.it The meeting venue, the Park Hotel Villa Ariston is a four stars superior hotel, and is block booked for INS 2014 attendees until March 31.The hotel has 60 rooms and other rooms are available in other hotels (listed below). 6 Children: from 0 to 2 years (in the parents bed): free from 0 to 6 years (with bed): 20 from 7 to 9 years (with bed) 55 Breakfast: from 3 years 10 After 31 MARCH 2014, the rooms will be open to public reservation at higher prices. Please keep in mind that The hotel Villa Ariston is in high demand in June; thus, it is likely that rooms not reserved by INS attendees before March 31 will be sold rapidly. All considered, it is strongly advised to make reservations before March 31. How to make reservation: booking must be done directly with the hotel. Please send an to the hotel, specifying that you will attend the 2014 INS meeting, before March 31 for getting the special prize. Hotel Villa Ariston cancellation policy: Cancellation up to 14 days before arrival: no charge Cancellation between 13 and 7 days before arrival: one night every 3 booked must be paid Less than 7 days: the full amount must be paid Please, when you make the hotel reservation also pay for the registration fees. This because we have to pay in advance a percentage for the rent of the meeting room services, coffee break etc. Note that the above prices shall be applied for the days of the meeting. If you wish to arrive before or to leave after the meeting days, please discuss the terms of your stay with the hotel when making your reservation.

8 SOCIAL PROGRAMME - Monday, June 23, 7.30 pm: Welcome drink at Villa Ariston and late registration - Thursday, June 26, afternoon: Excursion to the spectacular district of the Marble Quarries, within the Apuane Alps, with a guided visit to the Fantiscritti quarry and to the quarry Museum. The collection, exhibited in the Museum, recalls to the memory the life and the work of the quarrymen of the past. - Thursday, June 26: Social dinner in Hotel Villa Ariston with music and dances. The welcome drink, the excursion and dinner are included in the Registration fee. For accompanying persons, the prices are: -Excursion to Marble Quarries 35 (this may depends from the number of participants) -Social dinner: 62 (tax included) (these sums will be collected during the meeting. Please note that for the excursion it is important to have the exact number of participants at the beginning of the meeting because we need to book special bus for going to the quarries) Additional Links
