2 Huber Heights Literacy Initiative The Huber Heights Community Reading and Growing Together 6:30 Registration 6:50 Program Presentations: How to Help Your Child Become a Better Reader. Introductions: Kathy Demers, HHCS Assistant Superintendent Dorothy Johnson, HHCS Curriculum Supervisor Presenter for Parents of Students Grades: K, 1 st & 2 nd : Carol Mitchell, Head Librarian Greene County Public Library, Cedarville Community Library. Carol had been a public librarian for 24 years, most of which has been in youth services. She has an M.L.S. from Kent State University, and currently serves as the Assistant Coordinator for the Ohio Library Council s Children s president of the Southwestern Young Adult Materials Review Group affiliated with Wright State University. Presenter for Parents of Students Grades: 3 rd, 4 th, & 5 th : Sherry Parsons, Head of Children s Services Beavercreek Public Library, Greene County Public Library System Sherry has served as a children s librarian for over 30 years. Most of those years have been at the Beavercreek Community Library. She is the Head of Youth Services at the Beavercreek Library. She has held the office of Coordinator for Children s Services for the Ohio Library Council and has been a workshop presenter for teachers in the Huber Heights City Schools. She is a proud grandmother and spends many happy hours sharing books with her granddaughter.
