1 POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Director - International SCHOOL/OFFICE: Office of Student Recruitment CLASSIFICATION LEVEL: Executive DATE POSITION CLASSIFIED/UPDATED: March 2016 This position is first and foremost with Bond University and although this position is described as operating within a section of the university, it is a fundamental requirement of your position that the best interests of the university must be your priority at all times. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Office of Student Recruitment is a pivotal Office within the university because of its unique position in driving revenue, in securing quality candidates and promoting Bond s unique product offering and student experience. The Director International requires demonstrated experience in international education markets, knowledge of the higher education sector in Australia and overseas, experience of working in large complex organisations, sound financial management and marketing operations abilities and a collaborative approach to dealing with staff and colleagues. The Director International will have highlevel judgement and problem-solving acumen and be an ambassador for Bond University. The Director International will contribute to the development of strategy and will be responsible for the development and implementation of the university plans to attract high quality international students to Bond University. The purpose of this position is to lead and motivate a team of recruiting professionals to: Recruit high quality international students to Bond University courses Liaise with Bond University faculties, marketing staff, government agencies, international agents and other stakeholders to optimise recruitment performance within the designated international markets Create and maintain excellent stakeholder internal and external institutional relationships that will help drive and support sustainable growth Raise brand awareness and direct customer preference across a range of countries and regions. Manage and develop staff to ensure they are adequately skilled and motivated to deliver a high level service It is an expectation that the incumbent will run the International Recruitment department as a commercially sound operation and have the requisite skills to develop and analyse market intelligence, setting of strategies for the development and growth of the business, strategic partnerships, international student recruitment and research opportunities for the University. Regular overseas travel will be required.

2 REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports to: Executive Director Student Recruitment Director - International International Recruitment Managers (IRMs) Manager Study Abroad & Exchange The Director International reports to the Executive Director, Student Recruitment. S/he will play a key role contributing to strategic planning and business development to support the university s internationalisation goals as well as contributing to building Bond University s reputation globally. Provide high level advice to the Executive Director, Student Recruitment on matters relating to student recruitment including trends, market forecasts, and potential challenges in market facing the University. The position will also advise, collaborate and liaise with the Senior Management Team. The position will forge strong links and interact with the Faculty Business Directors, the Faculty Marketing Managers, the General Manager of Marketing & Communications, and the Admissions Team leaders group. The Director International will be responsible for the strategic and operational priorities in recruiting international students to Bond University. SELECTION CRITERIA: Qualifications A University degree, preferably inclusive of postgraduate studies in business, communications, marketing or a related field. Knowledge and Experience Significant experience in sales, business development and marketing as well as the development and implementation of business plans to support international student recruitment. Substantial experience across the range of recruitment functions at a senior level, and demonstrated capacity as a hands on practitioner in a consultative, service delivery model. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Australian higher education system as well as an excellent understanding of the current issues and trends within international education and the challenges facing universities internationally. Substantial experience working in international student recruitment across a range of countries. Experience operating in Asia and the sub-continent will be highly regarded. Judgment/decision making/problem solving On an ongoing basis, the incumbent is required to review, motivate and drive the team to success, while maintaining a positive, enjoyable working environment.

Analytical skills Sales management and experience in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) programs and/or similar technologies for business development Demonstrated ability to establish credibility, gain confidence and maintain rapport with staff at all levels and a personal commitment to work within a strongly service focused environment. Ability to adapt to, and to be a catalyst for change; and a capacity to work in a complex and fluid organisational environment. Ability to work under sustained pressure and to tight time lines. Attributes Proven ability to meet and exceed targets Proven team player with excellent networking skills Strong commitment to client service ethos Ability to work independently and apply initiative in isolation Highly motivated COMPETENCY: RESPONSIBILITY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Strategic Planning In consultation with the Executive Director, Student Recruitment, develop and implement the international student recruitment Plan Develop and implement Gant Chart specific recruitment and promotional initiatives annually. Plan and manage the international marketing budget. Work closely with the General Manager, Marketing & Communications to develop supporting field initiatives for the IRM s in market Adherence to Gant Chart (as jointly determined by incumbent and Director). Ensure that expenditure does not exceed budgeted amounts for each designated market. Management Assist and lead the International recruitment team in recruitment within their designated regions. The leadership role will include travel to the designated regions on a regular basis. Champion and act as coach for the recruitment team and channel/influencers to maintain momentum and attain targets. Perform regular 1:1 reviews. Coach and inform recruiters of their individual performance for each semester. Provide coaching or corrective feedback following observation of recruiters. Maintain a close and healthy working relationship with Faculty marketing managers, Business Directors and other University Offices. Working with the Executive Director, Student Recruitment, maintaining a close working relationship with Faculty Deans in respect to product development Budget Attainment Positive feedback from peers, industry, students, Faculty and candidates. High staff retention rate

4 and product offerings. Lead and manage product training on an ongoing basis to ensure staff are confident and competent to promote Bond s product offering and personalised service Provide ongoing input and support into the operational delivery of the regional coordinators team to support lead and nurture management. In the spirit of ongoing improvement, measure initiatives through: Tracking and charting the impact of promotional activities, specifically looking for process and recruiting improvements. Tracking and charting the international recruitment expenditure against budget monthly. Tracking and charting the promotional $ spend to enrolment / application ratio monthly to establish performance guidelines across the team and for the team as a whole. Ensure compliance with ESOS and other relevant State and Commonwealth legislation as it impacts upon promotion and student recruitment as well as channel partners, including agents, through whom international students enter the University. Performance against targets Compliance with legislation. In consultation with the Executive Director, Student Recruitment, provide strategic input into the University s international exchange and Scholarship programs. This will include taking a leading role in the effective operation and ongoing review of the Scholarship program. Industry & Customer Relationship Management Manage and improve lead management process (from pipeline entry to enrolment) through CRM and nurture marketing processes and programs. Ensure that enquiry and influencer (i.e. agents, partner education providers) databases are up-to-date, accurate and comprehensive. Support the Executive Director, Student Recruitment to further relationships with international government bodies including: Foreign Embassies and High Commissions Ministries of Education/Higher Education Relevant Ministries (Health, Foreign Affairs) Scholarship Bodies Accrediting/Recognition Authorities Support the Executive Director, Student Recruitment to further relationships with peak industry bodies including Australian Universities International Directors Forum Queensland International Director s forum Target attainment. Effective drip marketing. Pipeline growth Budget Accuracy ESOS compliance

5 International Education Association of Australia Study Gold Coast Sales & Marketing Lead a team of recruiting professionals to recruit international students to enrolment stage with the objective of reaching and ideally exceeding predetermined full degree and study abroad recruitment targets. Activities include, but are not limited to: Agent/channel marketing support Industry liaison and cooperation Trade shows, expos and careers markets Faculty events/road shows IRM travel missions Customer/Influencer visits to campus Pipeline management Online campaigns Agent Visits & Training Agent-specific poster Campaigns Parent/alumni/prospect road shows Fam tour for Principal agents Alumni Promotions Network Identify and engage with preferred recruiting partners in each market to ensure all channels are covered, comprising: international schools Recruitment agents Articulation/pathway partners Government organisations funding scholarships. Target attainment. Application growth through increase in: Event/initiative attendance targeted PSP schools. Pipeline Effective capture and follow-up of enquiries new recruiting strategies. Improved conversion rates of enquiries to enrolment. Improved performance and effectiveness of the channels by which international students enter the university. Business development Information Dissemination Evaluate international development opportunities and make recommendations as to appropriate actions/approaches. Disseminate information (shared at team leaders meeting) on a weekly basis to direct reports to ensure the team is always in the loop. Ensure that all major initiatives and events are reported at team leaders for greater team and faculty involvement. Liaise closely with Academic units and Admissions to ensure that recruitment effort is coordinated and that there are no communications or processing problems. Work with faculties and other business units to ensure that the international recruiting team is at all times providing accurate and up-to-date advice on courses and admission procedures. Identification of new channels to support student reruitment. Accurate provision of advice on enrolment process and courses. Informed team. Positive feedback from Manager, Team leaders and Faculty Marketing Managers. Market Research Research, collate and maintain information and data Target attainment.

6 Intelligence relevant to the international market place and provide reports as required. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of target markets and relevant demographics, and identify new or emerging markets. Supply periodic reports to the Director International. Maintain a clear understanding of the performance of each international market segment. Minimum of semesterly reporting General Provide advice to the Executive Director, Student Recruitment on all issues related to international student recruitment and where it may impact on recruitment support and facilities. When required serve on university committees etc, attend all meetings and contribute to discussions and decisions. In consultation with the Executive Director, Student Recruitment, provide and maintain a framework within which the recruitment services across the University can be systematically reviewed, its processes benchmarked and improved systems and procedures introduced. Undertake special projects and reports as required and directed by the Executive Director, Student Recruitment. Positive feedback from Manager, Team leaders and Faculty Marketing Managers. Understanding of Quality Assurance Staff should demonstrate an understanding of the principles of quality assurance and continuous improvement as they apply at Bond University. Staff are expected to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the Bond University Strategic Plan, university policy and to our quality assurance processes. Understanding of Cultural Sensitivity Staff will come into contact with staff and students from a variety of cultural backgrounds. It is expected that mutual respect, cultural awareness and cultural sensitivity will form the basis of the professional working relationship. Staff are encouraged to attend a cultural sensitivity workshop to further enhance and develop cultural awareness and cultural sensitivity skills.
