6 ABOUT IESE Created in 1958, IESE Business School is a pioneer in international business education. The school established its fulltime MBA program the first of its kind in Europe in 1964 under the guidance of the IESE-Harvard Advisory Committee. 7 THE IESE MBA IESE Business School s MBA program takes a comprehensive, general management approach to give students the skills and tools they need to become highly effective leaders in a global business environment. Highly ranked among MBA programs worldwide, the program prepares well-rounded business leaders who are dedicated to making a positive impact on the world. IESE s 19-month MBA program is noted for its high-quality curriculum and the distinctive learning experience it offers. The program is bilingual (English-Spanish), thus enabling non-spanish-speaking students to acquire a vital language. In addition, a student body representing over 50 nationalities and world-class faculty members from over 25 countries who present business scenarios from around the world ensure that IESE MBA students develop a truly global mindset and the cross-cultural skills they need to succeed in today s global economy. Using the case study method, students analyze over 750 real-life situations throughout their MBA. This not only provides a framework for effective decision making, but also develops key competencies such as analytical thinking, an entrepreneurial mindset and communication. Throughout the MBA program, students work in teams to analyze cases and present projects. Students are assigned personal mentors who work with them to develop the competencies required to be a good team player and a successful manager. During the summer between the first and second years of the MBA, students undertake corporate internships all over the world. Corporate internships offer students a perfect avenue to explore new sectors, companies and countries. They add to the global dimension of the program and are often a source of job offers after graduation. After building a solid foundation during the first year, students are able to tailor their MBAs in the second year by choosing from more than 70 elective courses. Eligible students have a chance to participate in the International Exchange Program and spend their first semester at one of several top business schools around the world. 11 ON-CAMPUS RECRUITMENT We provide multiple opportunities for connecting with IESE MBA students on campus and raising awareness about your company. Interviews Career Days 2011 Career Forum Participating Companies The Career Services team facilitates the organization of interviews with students so that firms can hire quickly and costeffectively. Interviewing second year students for fulltime positions starts during the Career Forum After this companies can schedule first-round interviews on campus, taking into account students class schedules. Career Days provide an additional opportunity to make contact with students later on in the recruitment calendar. To ensure student availability, no classes are held during these events. Participation is fee of charge and the event combines company presentations, networking slots and on-campus interviewing. This academic year, Career Days will be held on February 10 and March 9, Platinum Sponsors Gold Sponsors Silver Sponsors For second-round interviews at company offices, we advise you to organize these on Fridays, when students do not have class. Company Presentations Company presentations may be arranged from November to March outside classroom hours fee of charge. Recommended times are from 1 to 2 p.m. and after 5:15 p.m. Companies presenting in the evening can follow up the presentation with a networking event. MBA Career Forum 2012 With over 45 leading companies participating each year, the IESE Career Forum is one of Europe sleading MBA recruiting events and accounts for over 60% of our yearly placement. This comprehensive recruiting event includes a career fair, presentations and interviews for full-time positions and corporate internships. 13 ENHANCING YOUR BRAND THROUGH STUDENT CLUBS MBA student-run organizations are focal points of student activity and networking. Working with these clubs is an effective and efficient way to reach a targeted group of MBA students segmented according to industry and career interest. There are a number of ways to get involved with these groups throughout the year, including: London Banking Tour: Organized by the Finance Club, this initiative takes place in October and allows students to meet with prospective employers and alumni working in the sector. Case Competitions: Companies can gain exposure and assess talent early on by providing real-world business problems for students to analyze and solve at these events. Asia Career Trek: Students travel to Singapore and Hong Kong to meet with companies and network with professionals. Interview Workshops: Help students prepare for interviews by sending company representatives to campus to present key tips for success and do mock interviews. Doing Good and Doing Well: Led by IESE s Responsible Business Club, this is Europe s leading student-run conference on responsible business and sustainability issues. It takes place at the end of February and includes keynote speeches, panels, a career fair, a social entrepreneurship workshop and a clean-tech seminar that brings together selected clean-tech industry entrepreneurs and some of the world s leading venture capitalists. Healthcare Club Trek: Students travel to Switzerland to visit pharmaceutical, medical device and biotech companies to meet professionals and alumni working there. Energy Club Day: The Energy Club, in conjunction with MBA Career Services, organizes a full-day conference attended by club members, alumni, company representatives and academics. 15 The corporate internship project takes place between the first and second years of the program and is an integral part of IESE s MBA. Students contribute to companies by applying their previous work experience and the business concepts and skills developed during the first year of the MBA program. COMPANY OBJECTIVES Corporate internships are a means of addressing operational needs or special projects that permanent staff members may not have time to undertake. Corporate internships are the ideal means of testing potential candidates for full-time positions and assessing whether they possess appropriate skills, experience and cultural fit. While standard in the financial services and consulting sectors, companies in the industrial sector are also increasingly using corporate internships as a source of full-time employees. Companies competing for the same talent are obliged to integrate internships in their recruitment methods in order not to loose candidates. STUDENT OBJECTIVES To apply the knowledge learned during the MBA To assess their own working style and capabilities To use the internship as a stepping stone towards obtaining a full-time position The project is carried out for a maximum of 11 weeks over the summer (the average is 9 weeks), starting in mid-june. Students participating in the International Exchange Program are available for a maximum of 9 weeks, as exchange schools start their fall term earlier. 16 IESE ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT Thanks to IESE s strong brand recognition and on-campus recruiting events, I was able to meet with current members of the BT MBA Leadership Program team, attend informational sessions about the company, and ultimately apply for and accept an internship position with the firm. While working for BT this summer, I was able to leverage lessons learned from the case method to successfully develop business propositions across a new and exciting market. IESE s long relationship with BT gave me access to a competitive program in which I was able to excel. The IESE Academic Partnership Agreement allows students to do their internship as an integral part of their studies rather than be hired as employees. This is standard practice in Spain and, local labor laws and accounting practices permitting, can also be used in other countries. IESE provides its students with health and accident insurance for the duration of the MBA. It is essential that companies inform IESE of the location of internships so that arrangements can be made with the insurance provider to ensure that interns receive full medical coverage.
