1 Access Statement Sandwell Museum Service Sites. A guide to facilities at our sites to help your visit be as successful as possible. Haden Hill House Museum Access is off Barrs Road and Lee Road, Cradley Heath The museum is situated in Haden Hill Park There is a link to Google maps and the location of Haden Hill House on our website visit and follow the link to Our Museums. Public Transport Visit the Network West Midlands website for information about buses and trains to Haden Hill House. There is a link on the Haden Hill House page of our website. or call: for bus and metro information for train information Old Hill train station is a 10 minute walk away from the museum. There are two Network West Midlands Travel Information Centres - Birmingham New Street Rail Station and Wolverhampton Bus Station. Journey planning, timetables and maps are available - you can also buy local Travelcards.
2 Parking As you come up Lee road you will see a black sign pointing you to the car park on the right, turn left here instead to a car park to the rear of the museum. There are disabled parking spaces here. Entrance to the building. Access for visitors with mobility problems is at the rear of the house just ring the bell and a member of staff will let you in. There are no steps to this entrance. The main entrance at the front of the building has eight steps to the entrance. Parking is currently Free Reception. The main entrance and reception area is situated on the ground - floor with step free, level access, throughout. There are chairs throughout the building which can be sat on. These are green and have a sign saying you can sit on me The floor surface in reception is tiled. Other rooms have wooden floors with large rugs please mind your step. The reception and corridors are well lit. There is lower level atmospheric lighting in some of the rooms. Attraction (displays, exhibits, rides etc.) A free plan of the house is available on reception. Interpretation boards are all in large text. There are touchable objects in most rooms and we are happy for sight restricted visitors to touch other objects. Please contact us before your visit if you would like access to other objects.
3 Public Toilets Public toilets are located on the ground and first floors with level access. Accessible toilets are on the ground floor. Accessible toilets are well lit. The accessible toilet has an emergency pull cord alarm. Access to First Floor There is a platform lift giving access to the first floor - please ask a member of staff on reception for help if you require it. Catering The tearoom is situated on the ground floor there is a corridor with sharp turns and doorways to the tearoom servery. There are no steps to the servery but are steps down to the seating area. There is secondary access to the seating area from the car park. The tearoom is open for light refreshments on event and activity days only. Lighting in this area is natural daylight with overhead lighting used. Tea and coffee facilities are available from reception during normal opening hours. The flooring in the café area is vinyl flooring. Shop There is a small shop area with a range of souvenirs and books etc next to reception. This is a small area and wheelchair users may find manoeuvring a little tricky. A low level desk & counter are provided.
4 Staff are available to offer assistance if required. Haden Hill Park. The grounds to Haden Hill House are run by Sandwell Parks and Countryside Management. The park is steep and there are some steps but there are accessible paths throughout the park. Additional Information We have a set of evacuation procedures someone will assist you with evacuation if you require. We restrict access on the first floor to two wheelchairs at any one time. We are unable to accommodate pushchairs inside the building. A water bowl and tap is available to the rear of the house for assistance dogs. Clear signage is used throughout the attraction. 5 The Manor House Museum Access is from Hall Green Road, West Bromwich The museum is situated in its own grounds. There is a link on the Manor House page of our website. or call: for bus and metro information for train information The nearest metro station is in Wednesbury Town centre or West Bromwich town centre several miles away. There are two Network West Midlands Travel Information Centres - Birmingham New Street Rail Station and Wolverhampton Bus Station. Journey planning, timetables and maps are available - you can also buy local Travelcards.
6 Parking You can pull onto the site and you are directed to the car park on the right. There are disabled parking spaces directly in front of the building. Parking is currently Free and on site. Entrance to the building. Access for visitors with mobility problems is currently restricted due to steps and historic thresholds. We are currently having building works undertaken which will improve accessibility. We are unable to accommodate pushchairs inside the building. There are no lifts inside the building and stairs to first floor rooms. Access to other parts of the building other than the great hall are by guided tour only. Most of the house is inaccessible to wheelchair users. From July 2014 staff will be able to give visitors who are unable to use stairs a virtual tour via ipads. Reception. The main entrance and reception area is situated on the ground - floor with two love steps to get into the building. There are chairs in the great hall which can be sat on. The floor surface in the great hall is flag stones with wooden floorboards throughout. Lighting in the Manor House outside of the great hall is.

Access to First Floor There is no accessible access to the first floor. Access is by steep uneven stairs only due to the age of the building. Please ask a member of staff on reception for help if you require it. Catering Tea and coffee facilities are available from reception during special events and activities. Shop There is a small shop area with a range of souvenirs and books etc next to reception.
8 Staff are available to offer assistance if required. The Grounds. The grounds to The Manor house are part of the museum service site. There is a flat path running most of the way around the site. 9 The Oak House Museum Please note this information will change when the historic barns open as our visitor facilities on 6 July Access is on the corner of Oak Road and Cambridge street. Parking is only available onsite for disabled visitors please park to the rear of the house or alongside the portakabin, not in front of the house. Lodge Road Metro Station is around a 5-10 minute walk. 10 Parking We appreciate that parking at Oak House is a little difficult. There is parking on the road directly outside the house for up to one hour. Parking is allowed on Cambridge Street and further down Oak Road. There is a pay and display car park on lodge road and further parking in West Bromwich town centre. Accessible parking is available on site please park behind the house, not in front of the house. Entrance to the building. Access for all visitors is the main entrance, there are two very low steps into the building. Due to the size of the house, wheelchair access is limited. We will soon have a virtual tour of the building to allow access to the first floor. Parking is currently Free Reception. These have a sign saying you can sit on me we kindly ask you not to sit on other chairs. The floor surface in reception is flag stones. Other rooms have wooden floors please mind your step.

12 Shop There is a small shop area with a range of souvenirs and books etc on the first floor. If you would like any items brought down then please ask a member of staff Staff are available to offer assistance if required. The Grounds. The grounds to Oak House are run by Sandwell Museums. There is crazy paving down the drive, this can get very slippy in wet weather please take extra care Additional Information We have a set of evacuation procedures someone will assist you with evacuation if you require. Wednesbury Bus station is a two minute walk from the museum There are train stations at Wolverhampton, Walsall and Sandwell and Dudley, all around 5 miles away. There are two Network West Midlands Travel Information Centres - Birmingham New Street Rail Station and Wolverhampton Bus Station. Journey planning, timetables and maps are available - you can also buy local Travelcards.
14 Parking There is a pay and display car park situated next to the museum. The car park has disabled parking spaces available. Entrance to the building. Access for all visitors is at the main entrance. There are no steps to this entrance. Internal doors are automatic Reception. The main entrance and reception area is situated on the ground - floor with step free, level access, throughout. There are chairs throughout the building which can be sat on. The floor surface in reception is mosaic tile. Other rooms have carpeted floors. The reception and corridors are well lit as are the galleries unless a specific exhibition requires low level lighting. Attraction (displays, exhibits, rides etc.) A free plan of the site is available on reception. Interpretation boards are all in large text. There are touchable objects in many rooms and we are happy for sight restricted visitors to touch other objects. Please contact us before your visit if you would like access to other objects.
15 Public Toilets Public toilets are located on the ground and first floors with level access. Accessible toilets are on the first floor. There is a platform lift to the first floor Accessible toilets are well lit. The accessible toilet has an emergency pull cord alarm. Access to First Floor There is a platform lift giving access to the first floor through in the town hall corridor - please ask a member of staff on reception for help. Catering There are no catering facilities at the site apart from some special events and activities. A Morrisons supermarket is opposite the museum and has a café. Shop There is a small shop area with a range of souvenirs and books etc next to reception. This is a small area and wheelchair users may find manoeuvring a little tricky. Staff are available to offer assistance if required. Grounds. There are no outside grounds

There is a link on the relevant page of our website. or call: for bus and metro information for train information Access to Bishop Asbury Cottage is very restricted due to the size and nature of the property. The property is very small and there are steep steps up to the front door. There are also small steep steps up to the first floor There are no toilets on site or parking facilities but the Malt Shovel pub is next door which sells drinks and food. A member of staff is available on site.
18 Galton Valley Pumping Station There is a link to Google maps and the location of the Museum on our website visit and follow the link to Our Museums. There is a link on the relevant page of our website. or call: for bus and metro information for train information Access to the site is via the mainline canal towpath, which has steep steps down from Brasshouse Lane. There is a portaloo on site No parking is available apart from on road parking. A public car park is available on Brasshouse Lane next to the childrens centre around 200 metres away from the pumping station. There are some stairs to access some parts of the building. Smethwick High Street is close by with other facilities including Smethwick library. Rolf Street Train station is a 5 minute walk.
