2 1 remove other versions of Office from your computer If you have any other version of Office on your computer/laptop (i.e. Office 2007 or Office 2010 or even Office 2013, etc.) you need to remove it before installing Office This will help avoid potential clashes between multiple versions. Screenshots for these steps were taken with Windows 7, but the steps are generally the same for Windows 8. Why do I need to uninstall Office 2013 if I have it already? This new version of Office 2013 includes additional programs but it also uses a different licensing system than the serial numbers that you probably used for your previous Office 2013 installation. To avoid any licensing conflicts, uninstall your previous Office 2013 installation and install a new version from Office 365. What if these instructions don t work for me? 3 STEP TWO In the Programs menu, select Uninstall a program. STEP THREE Click on the old version of Office. Then click Uninstall. STEP FOUR Click Yes to continue the uninstallation. Last Revised: 06/15/2015 Page 3 of 11

4 STEP FIVE Click Close when the uninstallation wizard is finished. STEP SIX You will need to restart your computer to complete the uninstallation. Click Yes to restart now. 5 2 log on to to download office 2013 & follow the installation wizard instructions Follow the instructions below to log on to Office 365, download Office 2013, and then follow the installation wizard instructions. Screenshots for these steps were taken with Windows 7 and Internet Explorer, but the steps are generally the same for Windows 8 and with other web browsers. STEP ONE Open your internet/web browser to STEP TWO Under Student Login, click on the Get Started Page link. STEP THREE You will be re-directed to a login page. 6 STEP FOUR In the middle of the home screen, you should see an Install Now button. Note that there are some default options such as making Bing your default search engine that are checked above the Install Now button. Review this and uncheck as necessary. STEP FIVE If Step Four worked for you, please jump to Step Nine. If Step Four didn t work or you want to customize your installation, click on the Settings gear icon ( ) at the top left of the page. 7 STEP SEVEN Click on Software. STEP EIGHT The default setting is 32-bit installation. If you wish to change to 64-bit installation, click on the advanced link under Version. Click Install. STEP NINE You will see a getting ready message. Last Revised: 06/15/2015 Page 7 of 11

8 STEP TEN At the bottom right corner of your screen you ll see a pop-up message indicate that Office is installing in the background. STEP ELEVEN Then the installation wizard starts up. Click Next. 9 STEP THIRTEEN You will be introduced to OneDrive, Microsoft s cloud storage system which is built into Office You can click on Learn More without affecting your Office 2013 installation. Then click Next. STEP FOURTEEN If you have set up Office on your computer before, the installation wizard will locate that information and transfer many of your settings over. On this screen the wizard is asking you to customize the image that appears at the top right of many Office 2013 applications. As you click through them you will see a preview below the list. 10 STEP FIFTEEN You can view more information on Office 2013 by clicking on Take a Look; this will not affect your Office 2013 installation. Or you can click No, thanks. STEP SIXTEEN It may take a while longer for the Office installation to finish, although you can start using the Office programs now if you wish. STEP SEVENTEEN Once the installation is complete you will see a message indicating you re done. Click All done! Experiencing problems with your Office installation? 11 3 update Office when you re done It s likely that there are some security and bug fix updates for your Office installation. It is recommended that you check for Office updates before you start using Office 2013 applications. How do I update Office 2013? When you run Windows Update, it will now check for Office updates as well. Open your Control Panel and go to Windows Update. There may be several updates, so be patient as your system installs them.
