1 Nortel VPN Client for Windows Vista 64-bit Operating System Please understand that these instructions ONLY pertain to users that are running Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit Operating System. To find out if you are running Vista s 64-bit Operating System, please follow these steps 1. Go to the Start Menu and go to the Control Panel. 2. Click on System and Maintenance. (If you are not seeing this option, go to step 5) 3. Click on System. 4. In the information provided in this window, next to System Type you should see if you have a 64-bit Operating System or a 32-bit Operating System. If you have a 64-bit Operating System, please proceed to step 6. If you have a 32-bit Operating System, DO NOT PROCEED. Contact the OET Customer Care Center at to provide you with the appropriate instructions.

2 5. If you are in Classic View, then click on the double click on the System icon. Now go back to Step 4. DOWNLOADING THE NORTEL VPN CLIENT 6. Start up Internet Explorer. 7. In the address bar, go to ftp://ftp.maricopa.gov 8. Click on the link that says Get.From.Maricopa, then click on Normal.Downloads, then click on Vista.VPN.Client. 2

3 9. Click on the Vista_64bit_VPN_Client_10_01_052.exe link. 10. Click on the Save button. 11. To save the file on the desktop, click on Desktop link on the on the left, then click the Save button at the bottom. 3

4 12. Once the file has finished downloading, click on the Close button. INSTALLING THE NORTEL VPN CLIENT 13. Go to your desktop and right-click on the Vista_64bit_VPN Client_10_01_052.exe install file and click on Run as administrator option. 14. On the next window, click on the Run button. 4

If you currently have the User Access Control (UAC) turned on (which it is by default), then your screen should gray out a little and a window should pop up stating that A program needs your permission to continue. If you started this program, continue. The program it should reference is NVC64 Nortel Networks. Press the Continue button. 16. On the next window, click on the Next button. 17. Click the radio button next to I accept the terms in the license agreement and click the Next button. 5

6 18. Left click the button next to VPN Client and choose the option that says This feature, and all subfeatures, will be installed on local hard drive. Both the buttons next to VPN Client and PLAP should now be white (not gray). Click on the Next button 19. Click on the Install button to proceed with the installation. 20. The install wizard will begin the installation process. During this time there may be other windows that pop up requesting to setup and configure additional drivers. If this happens, please accept and proceed with what it is requesting to do. 6

7 21. Once the installation process has completed, click on the Finish button to complete the process. 22. Please RESTART your computer. 7

8 CONFIGURING THE NORTEL VPN CLIENT 23. Either on your desktop or in your start menu, click on the Nortel VPN Client. 24. When user start up Nortel VPN Client for the first time, the Profile Wizard will start up. Please click on the Cancel button to go back to the main window. 8

9 25. Please click on the Edit the profile link on the left. 26. Click on the New button at the top. 9

Enter the following information: Profile Name: MC_ISP Tunnel Type: IPSec Description: <<leave blank>> Destination: Authentication Type: Group Security (Group Password) Authentication Information: Username: <<your username>> Password: <<leave blank>> Group ID: radius Group Password: radius Click the Save button. Click the Close link on the left. LOGGING INTO THE NORTEL VPN CLIENT 28. Generate an 8 digit passcode from your ActivCard and type that number into the Password field. Click the Connect button. 29. You should begin seeing the following windows as it attempts to connect to the VPN router. 10

11 30. The security banner will appear. Click the Accept/Close button to close down the security banner and complete the connection. You are now connected to VPN. 31. To DISCONNECT from VPN, right click on the Nortel VPN Client icon in the system tray (icons next to the clock in the lower right corner), and choose Disconnect VPN. 11
